Ok, that's it, back to the keyboard. You've only got 10k to go!

Post here and let us know you hit 40k first though!

40K. 10 more to go, but there are hopefully at least 20K left in the story this year.

I'm at 40k, and it feels bittersweet. I'm tired of writing really super detailed conversational stuff, so I jolted the story another month in the future to give myself something new to work with. It's going OK for the most part. Can't wait to get around to finishing this story though.

I made it! I'm still behind my desired word count, but at least I'm not far behind! I could catch up with another couple thousand tonight.

40K! In a hotel room, after speaking all day each day this week... trying to keep the momentum going.

I can see how writing in a hotel can have its' advantages, as you are away from all the distractions of home. You just have to stay away from the "Nightly Manager's Reception" with a free open bar.

Or maybe not? Depends on your writing style and your subject.

Keep going everyone! Life after 40 feels good!

I did it! Happy dance, made it to 40,000 words. I'm not nearly as far into my story as I'd hoped/exected to be, the second draft will (hopefully) be much tighter. But for a first attempt, I'm rather pleased.

Woot!

40,000 and realizing that this novel is not 50,000 words long. Guess I'll just have to keep going into December and see where I end up.

Ian -I feel that, I second that! I hit 40,000 a couple days ago. Very exciting! So close to "the end" then experienced the same ephiphany as Ian. So...winner...keep going! YAY!

Just made it, in a sentence describing something as adding to proto-nationalist identity. Wheee. Or Whew. Or both.

Just hit 40,000 in the middle of a section about proto-nationalist identities and how a singer contributed to a groundswell leading to a real nationalist movement. Had to stop and share the word 'with' with my family.

Woooo! Or whew! At present, I'm not quite sure which. Possibly even both.

Hit 40,543 at my last update. Funny, just as my MC is contemplating a nap!
