OK I don't know if my word count is realy 10,221, I forgot what the number was when I hit the "recount" button but that was in the ballpark. When I left the 'Press I needed less that 50 words to make the 10,001 word budget. By the time I got home, filled Sondra in on what transpired after she left and got R2 all setup and turned on I noticed that it was 11:50.

In a panic I scrolled down to the end of the page, scanned the last 1/8 inch of type to see where I left off and started typing like the wind, brain nolonger fully engadged.

I finished the last little bit I had left and after I edited out (I know, no editing allowed!) the bit about "The adventures of Cloud, Gentalman Chocobo Rancher (my wife was playing Final Fantacy 7 in the forground and my mind wandered off task). I saw that it was 12:10 am and I was a few hundred over the quota.

I've decided that, Frack it, it counts!

Good job, dude.

All words count. And if you have hypenated words go in and remove the hypen until the contest ends. It may be the few words that throw you over.

Good luck and good writing.

I wonder how many extra words I would have if I did not use contractions.

I was thinking the same thing, I realized that my charaters use sooooo many contractions, but being that my setting is New Orleans I don't seem anyway to adviod them (we've invented our very on local ones).

I just broke the 30k mark. Which made me feel like hot "poop" until I got on the National site and found out some of them have already finished. Grrr....! Who has a goal of 200k?...that's just wrong.

To eveyone else, keep the faith,
Good luck and good writing,
Suzie

200k? That makes me what to bury my shame in a nearby canal.

But yes, I know what you're talking about. I wanted to cry when I logged onto the site November 3rd, and saw two people with green word count bars. Oh, my poor, neglected word count...

I don't remember NaNo being this hard last year. Maybe because I enjoyed the subject matter more. But I do love my characters this year... Oh well.

Back to punch out those last few words before I hit 15k.

Evil laughter, thunder crashed, lightening broke through the sky...

50,000 words..."it's alive, alive," she yelled. (Wah-ha-ha!)

Ok, I know. It's a beautiful, cool but sunny day...but it just doesn't have the umphf I need for my wicked laughter. Unless it's something like:

It was bright and sunny outside as she giggled insanely. Just then the three men in white doctor's coat's said, "Ms. Hudson. You need to come with us."

(Good luck and good writing,
and send good Karma my way - I've got an interview on Friday)

I was really hoping to break 30k tonight, but just my luck I caught a freaking cold! Tomorrow it will be! Then only 20k left to wind down a story...errr...that is going to be one REALLY long ending.
