Hi.

Well its only day 7 and already I am so far behind its unbelievable, I think I should be writing 50000/30=1667, so 1667 words a day so 7x1667=11669 and have so far only managed to type up 8185, suppose it doesnt help that I have to handwrite my story and then type it up, so everything takes twice as long to do, tried just typing it straight away but wasnt at all happy with what I had written so I went back to handwriting and then typing.

So just thought would see if anyone else was having the same problem.

Ta and happy writing.

Andrea

I'm a mere 10k or so behind schedule, due to somehow managing to get absolutely no writing done from Monday-Friday.

Yeah... It's best not to think too much about it.

I’m pretty behind, but, then again I’m the sort of person who can only write when motivated. And while the idea of NaNo it to purely focus on output rather than the quality of what you’re writing, I’m the sort of person who deletes stuff that I don’t like, which takes massive chunks out of my word count. To combat this I’ve started to write at night while watching House, because I can type without looking and I’m too distracted by the tv to want to read back what I’ve written... So if you can touchtype something like that might be worth a try...

I’m trying to think of it more as a piece of free-writing than a novel though, so I’m just having fun with it and letting my mind wander off... I did a whole paragraph on how my MC wishes he was just like Guybrush Threepwood from Monkey Island... Also if you’re trying to bolster your word count the dares in the dare thread always help even if they don’t make a lot of sense to your story.

But, yeah, if you’re having trouble with what your writing it’s probably best to remember that the aim isn’t to write a perfectly finished and polished novel, it’s just to write most of the components so you can turn it into a proper novel once November is over.

I'm about 200 words of yesterdays target (13,336) but I put it down to the fact that my christmas job started early. I wasn't meant to start till December 8th! But they asked a couple of us to start on the 5th of this month instead.

I'm trying to use today to catch up and add a little extra :)

Wish I had such a good excuse L.M; I seem to spend most of my alloted writing time staring blankly at the screen. Or editing. Which is very naughty indeed.

Oooh, I'm too embarrassed to tell, but you can probably see the word count to the left of this post. D:

Oh wow I thought mine was bad but thats ouchie.

Have decided to try not to focus to much on the word count and to just write when I can.

Hugs.

I've dropped a bit further behind now >.<

There's a bug going round at work, and I missed some writing because I didn't feel up to it D:

Feeling a little better now though, so I'm going to try and use my 3 day weekend to catch up!

Good luck to everyone else as well ^_^

Well, I only started today. I guess that means I'm officially last. Oh well! I'll just blame ridiculous amounts of homework...

Well you've come in at the halfway point so if you can write around 3300 words a day you should be able to catch up... or, you could always find a way to incorporate your homework into your novel for extra words? I'm doing that... it won't make sense but if I have to write a 3000 word case analysis on methods of ADR, then it might as well be for something other than a grade...

Day 15 (can't say that without doing it in a Big Brother voice) and just under 4k words short but plodding on...

I am still a good 6-7k behind target, which is better than being 12k behind this morning! I knew I would do this, I always go full steam ahead on week 1 and then slowly fall behind. Determined to reach the 50k though, hopefully with a day to spare or almost on the wire.

Perhaps I shouldn't have spent Sunday's nano meet dancing to jazz music whilst playing uno... but it was so good...
