When you tell people you are writing a novel everyone gets this weird look on your face I mean, is it really that hard to believe ta people can do other things in Lubbock besides play sports or go to church (no offense meant to anyone who goes to church)???
I guess I'm annoyed because I'm not just computer geek....sigh........

It doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing. If I tell any of my friends or family, they give me that same look like I'm weird.
That's okay though. If how they spend their lives is the alternative, I'll take 'weird' and come back for seconds.

I've thought the same thing. Spending hours and hours golfing is OK. Hunting is OK. Fishing is OK. Restoring an old car is OK. Watching every single reality TV show is OK.
But writing is weird. As is my other hobby, Toastmasters.

Haven't had that problem, but then my family has been very supportive of my writing and career, and most of my friends are creative types - published authors, screenwriters, poets, etc.
Even my professors here think it's pretty cool that during the busiest month of my first semester here - a month where I have to submit a literature review, an annotated bibliography, a draft of a paper, and one finished study - I have decided to also write a book, LOL

Hang in there - all those reactions stop as soon as you get your first book deal. :)
