Hi I'm Laura and I'm thrilled to find so many locals joining this challenge! I've been saying I'll write a book 'someday' for a decade. I sent this link to my hubby and said I'll do it if you will. My jaw dropped when he said OKAY! He already has a couple thousand words more than I have. ;-)
I got a little down about how much I was producing in a couple hours a day. I've kicked myself in the butt and am back in the game reminding myself this is about 'writing practice' and it will increase as I practice—so don't give up!
Knowing you're all out there committed to getting it on the screen or paper helps a bunch!
Vugs (virtual hugs) to all!
Happy writing. 8-)

Hi! This is my first NaNo too! It's nice meeting you. I hope to make it out to one of these write-ins soon so I can stay motivated.

Laura: I apologize for the delay in getting to you, but welcome to NaNo! It's so cool that you and your husband are both writing this month. That sounds like it must be a lot of fun; the other ML, Susan, is actually my mother, so I know how nice it can be to have someone close to you also taking part of the madness that is novel writing. I also want to say that it's fantastic that you've finally given yourself that final push and started your novel. That is honestly one of the hardest parts, and now here you are! You've made a lot of progress--6000 in the counter already! And just from this post I can tell you have a great attitude; NaNo is a blast and I think you continue to surprise yourself as the month wears on. I look forward to getting to know you and hope to see you at one our write-ins. Best wishes to you with your novel! :)
Knuxchan: Another fresh face! This is the first post of your's I've seen, so I'll say hello here first. Welcome! I can already see you're on fire with your word count. Congratulations! I hope to see you at one of our upcoming write-ins, as well, and best of luck with your novel! :)

Hey, folks. It's really nice to see other people who are new to the NaNoWriMo experience. I'm technically not from the Ocala area, but i'll be here for the next month taking care of my grandfather, so I figure any regional support for my writing certainly couldn't hurt. It's awesome to see the range of accomplishment via the word counter.
My mother is a strange motivator... Writing is pretty much all my mother has done with her time for the last 15 years. I mentioned NaNoWriMo to her, and she just laughed at me. "I write 50-80k words a day. I'll pass, thanks." But we ended up sitting in the same room and writing, and in talking writing with her, it's actually gotten my daily word count up.
Are any of you guys using any wacky writing tools? I spent the 10 bucks on the Write or Die desktop edition, and i'm finding that it's 10 bucks well spent.
