I just installed a dictionary.com app on my phone. Why am I not writing? And you?

Hey, I wrote today -- 1679 words, which kept me on task to hit 15K by Monday and 50K by November 30.

I guess there's an advantage to having just a plain old cell phone, huh? No apps to install and play with. ;-)

First of all, where is my halo?

Second of all, that sounds like a challenge Playground! Going around bragging about your plain old cell phone and your 1679 words. I still have three hours left today. I can do it. I can do it.

Bev Maiden, We will have to find your halo!~

And it strikes me that neither one of you are procrastinating enough to make a difference in your outstanding word counts.

Now me, that's procrastination. At least I found half a plot today!

Amy, look at my halo - it appears on some of my posts, and not on other posts. I am happy with having a sometime-halo. The Lords of NaNo probably did it because I'm so special :)

I made my word goal!! Thanks Playground, I probably wouldn't have done it without you.

And they were good words. The scene ended with the quote: The love you take is equal to the love you make. How fun was that! I had no idea that was where what I was writing was going.

I love NaNo.

Hah! I have you all beaten on procrastination, and I have the (lack of) word count to prove it!

Of course, I also have a pretty darned good excuse...

My sister got married today! Oddly enough, her word count is higher than mine...

I am not having trouble coming up with words. :)

I keep a "chapter" open when I'm writing. I call it my NaNo Journal. I consider it part of my word count for NaNo, but I use the chapter to figure out plot intricacies or characters. It is a chapter full of ramblings but it keeps me typing and I consider its words valid for NaNo.

I am not having trouble coming up with words but I just wrote

Wow. I am getting quite adept at using key board short cuts to switch to italics

Of course, in my journal the word 'italics' is italicized.

I am sharing the line here for the newbies who may not be aware that, while 'keyboard' moves you one more word along, the words "key board" bring you two words closer to your goal and still you haven't lost the meaning. Ditto "short cuts." Easy to fix during editing.

I also include the sentence because it is obviously not at all connected to my novel - but it really did keep me writing while I was trying to figure out (I am still trying to figure this out) how to haul a character that was minor up into the full spotlight of attention.

And now, you see, I have all these rambling words. I am stalled with this character, Ivy, but I won't stop typing until I've typed THROUGH this problem.

Happy typing everyone.

I wrote a whole blog post on some of the reasons I can come up with NOT to write. :D The good news is that I'm getting blog posts written. The bad news is that my word count for NaNo has not moved in a week!

kelkat, insert a disposable character into your novel who writes blog posts. Then you can use the blog posts as Words without messing up your novel. A disposable character is also good for when you don't know what to write. Attribute your mind's ramblings to the dc. It sounds silly, but just the fact of writing spurs on your creativity and before you know it, you've got direction in your novel. You might try something like putting all dc sequences in italics or changing the typeface color so you can easily remove it after November.
Remember, during November, any words is good words, don't waste them when you can be inventing characters to use them.

I may have to use that idea for my next novel - it won't really work in this one since the characters aren't using a computer. I'm thinking it would work with journal entries as well though.

Thanks for the tip.

Now, if there was only a way to insert a totally separate second short story into the novel, I'd have a much better word count. But the fact that I had to finish a different already established short story before I could continue on this one slowed me down a bit. I wonder if anyone can count a collection of short stories as a NaNo novel? After all, the word count of about 5 10,000 word short stories would be equal to the 50,000 word required "novel" length. :D

In order to put off cresting 30k words today, I spent a couple hours drawing a *cover* for my novel. It isn't great but I like it so I posted it on my facebook. lol And now I am watching my friends pounce and yell about how I should be writing. Priceless and soooo worth the couple hours lost today. :D

I think it is quite wrong to spend part of your NaNo day making up something as superfluous as a banner.
So, tell me, how does one go about getting the banner to show on one's posts?
Waaaaaa! Why won't it work for me?

Yeeah, still *looks* 24k short of where I should be...

Who wants to volunteer to take my Nintendo DS and my FaceBook away from me on October 31, 2010?
At least I'm ENTIRELY caught up on my requests and confirmations!

For the good of our region, I will gladly take your Nintendo DS away from you next year. What games do you have? Do you have Mariokart?

Don't do it, colly. I'm sure it is an evil Nintendo DS - look what it has done to Ronde. We don't need another casualty.

Ronde, you can outsmart that Nintendo. I know you can!

Nope, no MarioKart, sadly.

The primary distractive at this being Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. Puzzle-game with plot! Also pretty impressive graphics for someone who grew up on 8-bit.

Hmm. I could let the battery run down and give my mom the charger...
