Not quite to 13,336 words yet? That’s okay. You have time and space for this catch-up. And a challenge. I think tomorrow, Sunday November 8, needs to be Double Your Word Count Day.

What is Double Your Word Count Day, you ask? It’s a new regional holiday that a fellow ML Jesso invented and we’re borrowing for the day. It’s a day where you write at least double your average word count, and give yourself a boost to prepare for week two.

Whatever you end-of-day word count is tonight (Saturday night) you divide that number by 6. The result is your average daily word count, and your goal on Sunday is to write twice that many words. If your average is less than 1,667, and you are behind, then I challenge you to get to a grand total of at least 13,336 words. That’s where you should be by Sunday. If you make it there, you will have accomplished a very awesome challenge.

Add your magic number here in the forum, the number of words you will be writing on Sunday. Then, when you are finished writing those words, post again to let everyone know that you are victorious. (Go you!)

I dare you.

Jesse, I think we can grant you a get-out-of nano card. 24 hour shift? Yikes! My sister has those and I don't envy her them. How about your next day off you do that? After you catch up on sleep, of course.

I'm aiming for 3000, it'll be a good first step to catching up.

Well, I'm behind so I'm going for the 13,336 (actually an even 13,400.)

I saw this post a little late, but I started out this morning needing 5,200, and I've already written just over 2,000. So my calculator says that I need 3,042 over the rest of the day to catch up completely.

I'm pretty sure that I can get it done :) Thanks for the challenge Trilli!

While I have endeavored to double my word count, my body is telling me stop. So I shall call this writing dare a foil and admit defeat. I was aiming for 7913. And I got 6787. That's okay. I almost hit it. And I did get past my 30K. That rocks. I'll make it up tomorrow.

I waved my white flag in defeat, too. My double word count goal was 8-thousand and something....too tired to remember the exact number. I made it to over 5k toward it today though and also surpassed the 30k (total) mark. Now my cowering brain is relieved I'm going to let it rest and put it to bed! ;)

Wow, I feel kind of sheepish. Double my usual word count was only 4400ish. Other people are writing, what, 3500+ words per day, for doubles of 7000+? You guys are craaazy!

Anyway, I'm ahead of schedule, but I decided to do the double-up regardless. It was grueling, but I made it! Almost to 20k now!

Good job everyone! I'm so proud of you for even trying to get double your word count! You rock. Do a little dance, you've earned it. Remember this challenge is here for the duration. If you need a word boost, now's the time. Go ahead and take a challenge. They're fun!

Wow, and I thought I had it hard with just 5000... How do you guys manage to get so much writing done in one day?

Good news, I got about 6000 on Sunday. Bad news... I have to ignore the fact that I'm almost three days ahead of my quota schedule and keep writing... *sigh...*

I write like mad on the days I have off. Because on the days I work I can barely write at all. So I plot when I should be working, and write when I'm not. It's a funny thing, but it works. Also massive encouragement is good too. I set two goals: a halfway goal and a finish goal. If I get to the halfway goal I can have a cup of tea or a treat. If I get to the full goal I get a bigger present. Like a cd or a new set of headphones (thanks to Angitiger for suggesting that one. The new ones rock!).

Writing for itself is fun, but I'm also motivated by bribes. I'll do almost anything for a bag of swedish fish. LOL

Okay I didn't double my word count on Sunday because I don't write on Sundays, but on Monday I did it. I had been averagaing 2000 a day and yesterday I did 4000. It's amazing what that little write or die program can do to your word count.

Go NANO"s
