I just got Google Wave and I'm interested to see how everyone's using it!

I think I would like it as-is, without any improvements (although they've got more planned) if it weren't so LAGGY. It can really take forever... I type VERY quickly, so it's hard to type IN wave.

I think it would be more beneficial on the editing stage, specially if we're sending it out to others for review. It does lag a lot, even more so on a mobile. It's pretty cool though, but it could be awesome. Hopefully someone will come up with an extension for it that could enhance it's features and add some more for creative writing projects.

i can't really sort myself out in it yet. i want to use it for outlining or brainstorming but i seem to be below the learning curve. i have have a wave where i reply to myself a lot... i could do that anywhere. I also only have 1 contact.

* just made an outline in Wave and got all excited about having this conversation with myself and then realized you can't export your waves. you can't even copy and paste them into a word document. Great! super useful...

You can copy/paste the content of a wave to anywhere you want. Just hit edit this wave and highlight what you want to copy from it and vice versa.

Yeah, the no-contacts thing is a big turnoff right now. However, there is a public Wave dedicated to NaNo users: (warning, it's so big is laggy as hell).

I literally just got Google Wave and i have no idea what to do with it. I'll figure something out eventually. No invites, sorry.

Also, I've been noticing that a lot of online apps have been saying that they don't support my browser, Google Wave included. I'm using Firefox 3.5, which is in the box that pops ups suggesting supported browsers. What's up with that? I mean, it works if I "continue at my own peril", but this means I can't access links to a wave -- it automatically redirects me to the, uh, home page, I guess you could call it. Thoughts, anyone?

I got a wave invite this morning and just signed into it.
I only have one contact so far so right now I'm just playing around on it. I think it would be useful if you had a number of people under contacts. Otherwise it might be kind of useless. You'd just be taking notes for yourself.

Also, there is no way to empty trash bin. I just sent a wave to one of the programmers/owners of wave about that.

I think it needs more customization/setting options. Like being able to choose who other people can add to a wave. Blocking certain people from a wave. Or being able to set it to where if you created the wave, others can not add contacts to it (making in PRIVATE.)

There are a lot of things that can be done. It's a bit bare right now.

I think we should brainstorm a better use for using Google wave.

How should we do this brainstorm? How about in a wave!

Just edit the list you see, and leave comments in a fun color! Let's do some brainstorming together!

You may try making that Wave public so others can access it, though.

Good call. How does one do that? (Sorry, I'm still very new at this, my ignorant ambition got ahead of me.)

EDIT: Nevermind, it is done! That's a little complicated, but that's okay, I got it working.

Heres the link without the preview:

I just got the invite today too and followed the wave. It looks interesting but there are some stuff I want taken out, like reading what others are writing at the same time. :|

That's definitely not going to be taken out, it's kind of the point of the whole thing.

They said in the presentation that you can actually opt out of using that feature.

Wow, you weren't kidding about Google Wave being laggy. I just opened the welcome wave and tried to scroll, and even that tested my patience. And I'm using XP and Firefox 3.5. The NaNo wave will be a real test.
