I've kept a chart of my progress, tracking not only my daily wordcount, but also the number of new words and the goal difference, as well. I plan to make a graph of the data once I'm done, because I'm a dork like that, but the numbers alone are very encouraging!

The first day, my goal difference was +33.
Yesterday, my goal difference reached +1379!

Not only that, but those words were a total breeze. I guess since the total wordcount is piling up, I feel it less.

I agree! I find that tracking my word count (and I'll admit, I'm bad and check it every few paragraphs), has made me realize that it doesn't take me nearly as long to write 1,000 words as I thought it would. I got off to a slow start and am still a little behind, but my plan for today is write 1,000 words, go take care of something else I have to do and repeat this pattern until I'm caught up. It's going much better than I thought!

Definitely agree. This is my first nano, and when my friend told me the goal was to hit 50K words, it sounded...well nearly impossible actually.

Now that I'm actually writing it, however, things are going much faster than anticipated. I may even have to bump my goal up to 100K now that I realize just how capable I am of writing. And not just words, but words that make sense and have relevance! Haha.

I do the same thing! Glad I'm not the only geek.

Last year, just 50 more words was a struggle. Now, I sit down intending to bang out another 500 and often overshoot.

Not sure how much better my writing is, but there certainly is a lot more of it!

I've done that every year that I've done NaNo :D I keep them all in the same chart and race against myself from previous years. So far this is officially my best year yet.

A thousand words is getting easier though... the first 1000 of each day is usually a little tough, but after that I find myself thinking things like "I'll just write another thousand words before I take a break". I love it when I get to that point.
