Yes, it's week 2 - the dreaded Doldrums. But don't let yourself get stuck like those 19th century whalers in the South Pacific who resorted to gnawing on their fellow sailors' bones! Keep writing even if it does feel like pointless huffing against a warship. Whether it's one word or a thousand, remind yourself that you are making progress. You are far ahead of anyone who claims they want to write a book but have yet even to start.

On this thread, post about your week 2 progress! If you've written just one paragraph or several chapters, we'll all like to hear about it and cheer you on.

As a handy guide, here's where you should be on each day this week if you're doing at least 1667 words a day:

Nov 8: 13336
Nov 9: 15003
Nov 10: 16670
Nov 11: 18337
Nov 12: 20004
Nov 13: 21671
Nov 14: 23338

I've just hit 20,000! Yeah! I actually stopped and checked my word count and hit 20,000 on the button. It felt odd to report such a weird number, though, so I quickly wrote two more sentences before putting in my word count for the day.

Is anyone else just amazed at the creative process of writing? I was working so hard trying to push my characters in one direction, when they surprised me by going in another. On one hand, it's odd to think I can't make my own characters do what I wanted, even when I'm the one directing each and every little move they make, but on the other hand, it's amazing how the way they went is so much more realistic and believeable, true to their characters, and a better direction for the rest of the plot, too.

Anyone else having "ah-ha!" moments this week?

I fail at life...

7685 words.

But I refuse to lose! Thanksgiving Break is going to be what saves me... No school.

I think that I'm going to shoot for 9000 before I go to bed tonight.

Howdy y'all! I am currently at 35299 and just get started for the day. I was supposed to have all day off today and I had a page goal of 20 pages, but I got called in so I am trying to reach that page goal by the end of tomorrow. I too am amazed by the writting process. This is the first thing I have ever written more than 50 pages for and so now that I am nearing 3 times that I find myself more and more astounded and proud of myself. My characters have also taken control of their lives. On my wall I have a big outline of how i wanted it all to go, but they keep throwing out plot pieces and adding new tidbits. They are demanding.....well good luck to all! I have to have this novel finished by dec 5 so I better get clacking!
