Hey, everyone! It's been a few days since I visited the forums, and I just wanted to know how everyone is progressing on their works of literary art. I for one and moving rather slowly. I have a measly 2571 words. I'm not overly worried about, though. I've done this during every NaNoWriMo I've done. I start out slowly, and then I'm forced to sit at my computer for days at a time as the end of the month approaches. As usual I took a week of vacation at the end of the month to allow for my procrastination.

I hope all of you are writing furiously and keeping up with your daily word count. I hope to see many of you at some of the writing events soon! Good luck! ~Aaron

I'd been keeping way ahead of minimum word count for a while, but these past few days have been slow. I even went a whole day without writing, for shame. But like you, I'm not worried about it. If I write 1,667 every day for the rest of the month, I'll still make it. And I plan on getting ahead again during the week. My word count, as of this post, is 13,891.

My word count is currently 14384. I've had two days where I haven't made the daily word goal until a little after midnight, but not big deal this early in the game. I'll make sure I get it done BEFORE midnight on the 30th, though. I won't lose simply because of fifteen minutes.

So far, I'm pretty happy with my work in progress. The first chapter is very choppy and uneasy. It'll likely have to be rewritten entirely. I am getting more into the flow of the story now, though, and things are working out far better than I thought they would have. Plot points and such are unexpectedly cropping up in strange places, too, and I always count that as a plus. I have a very good feeling about this month, folks. :)

Heheh, personally I'm not doing quite so hot, lol! But it's my first year, so maybe I'll end up beign one of those crank-a-lot-out-last-minute types. Between getting stuck at a plot hole due to a stubbornly shy character and homework, I haven't been getting hardly anything written the last few days. But the quarter ends next week and there'll be a break before winter quarter begins, so hopefully I can use that time to get all caught up!

Collette was still wearing that sparkly smile. Katy swore that that smile should look retarded, but it was just so… deep. Perhaps those kinds of smiles are only stupid when they aren’t genuine, and for whatever reason, Collette’s was.

I'm almost at 9k, I got to about 4k, then completely ditched my story and went for another one. Ballsy move, but I'm glad I did it. This one is coming along much faster. I've very happy with the plot. Today I sat at my computer for (I kid you not) 11 straight hours (minus coffee breaks) working on a term paper... but now I'm looking to get caught back up on my nano count.

You guys remember me being really sick on saturday night? I had been really off my game for a few days, and on Saturday, I just couldn't focus because I was so ill.

Well, that night, I took the muscle relaxant my doctor gave me for precisely this sort of emergency and I wound up cat-napping almost all the way through Sunday. Didn't get a stinking thing done, that day.

So, this afternoon I was at 7,700 words, total. Four and a half days behind. :(

As of tonight, I'm at 15,031!

Woo-Hoo!

7,300 or so words in a day! Nice. :) Even better, in the last hour of furious improvised rambling, I wrote a nightmare sequence where the dead sister tries to point out to the detective sister (who has accidentally had the dead sister's memories implanted in her brain) that she missed a potential suspect - one that I had missed right up until I wrote that scene.

I'm feeling charged up, tonight!

...and thoroughly exhausted.

On my livejournal, btw, I've been posting excerpts. Here's one from today:

Anybody else blogging excerpts?

I'm going to ask you very nicely not to disturb me during the month of November. I'm already disturbed plenty at that time. Thank you. - Merf

I'm glad to hear of your grand progess Merf! A friend back home was in a similar word count boat and now she's over 3,000 words ahead of me.

I personally am just scraping by with minimum word count. But just scraping by with minimum word count means I'm still on track and I find this to be cause for joy. I'm hoping that after the exams I have looming I will be able to pull ahead of mere minimum again. But for anyone not up to speed, keep going. There will be days you can sit and tap out 5,000 or better words.

It’s very slow at the moment but school is almost over for, I’m actually not that far behind for day ten only a 1/3 or so. I was going to do some writing at work but at some point last week, someone walked out with $100 in MTG cards so I can’t write at the moment. Oh well, starting Nov 17 I have nothing but NaNo to do until Dec 1, I’ll catchup, I can feel it

I'm around 23k presently, and hoping to hit the half-way hurdle before the night is out.

Sadly, my husband has discovered Dragon Age Origins and is currently laughing at every little thing about five feet away from my computer. So terribly hard to focus!

On top of which, I have two new art commissions which have deadlines too... its going to be tough and a lot of time management. Hopefully I can pull my main character out of his emotional rut besides, and keep things rolling.

I hit the 10,000 mark and I feel good about it. Sure I am behind, but I know I can catch up. The story is progressing at a nice pace and I dont feel I am sacrificing too much by writing it so fast. Im already at 25 pages and have no idea where the story is headed. Thats a nice feeling
