Does anyone have something in particular picked out as a Holy Crap I Made It sort of activity? Something to motivate you, to dare you to finish?

I may be in my 30s, but I have a box of blue hair dye on my bathroom counter just waiting for me to break the 50K barrier!

I hadn't thought of it, but I like the hair dye idea. If only my husband's holiday party weren't the next Saturday. Maybe I'll just buy the Beatles Rock Band that we've been looking at

Once Nano is "won" there's no need to "win" any more.

Whenever I hit 50K, I celebrate by making a copy of the latest file, printing double-spaced, getting out my red pen, and editing. If I still care about the story, I'll write more, but I don't worry about keeping track of the word count.

Actually I already hit 50K and reset my bar because I'm going for 100K. But when I make 100K? I am going to celebrate by writing some dirty fairy tales.

I, too, am celebrating the first 50K by writing another 50. (The story isn't finished yet, and it will need at least that much more to be complete.)

And I dyed my hair a few days ago. (Just plain old dark brown, but that blue sounds like a really cool idea!!)

I spent the past weekend playing the Xbox game I had ordered at the beginning of the month and hadn't allowed myself to even take the plastic wrap off until I passed my 50k.

Blood, gore, zombie bits flying about...and a chick in a bikini. It was soo much fun!

And then I started writing a second story idea that snuck up and bit me in the ass before I'd gotten the first one finished...

The husband likes to remind me that I'm crazy quite often - but no more than I remind myself.

Actually I might actually do some editting after nano.

The mists haven't cleared.

When I hit 50K, I'll finish my story.
When I finish my story, I'll finally allow myself to read the detailed comments from three brave volunteers who proof-read my latest (non-NaNo) novel, and dive into editing.

And no matter what, on the 12th of December, I'll be signing books. I can't wait!

I ate an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's S'Mores ice cream in one sitting. And I bought Dragon Age, a computer game I've been DYING to play but wouldn't even let myself have in the house until I finished my NaNo.

The novel is now fermenting. In a week or so, I'll print it out and sit down with the Pen of Doom, setting my inner editor free at last.

I think I might go to the local 'Crystals' shop and see what jumps out at me. I have hundreds of precious stones already but it's always a good idea to have more. Yes. That's what I'll do. As a reward to myself.

I have a few books waiting to be read. I've hardly read a thing this month (well, for me...lots of stories to the kids, and some nonfiction, I guess).

I'm not planning to touch them at 50K, though. I won't even be close to done. I'll be continuing to the end of the month, regardless of when I hit 50K, and probably into December. I'm determined to finish the draft before Christmas.

Of course, then I have to decide how to spend January. Go back and edit, or start something different? I contemplated trying both at once, but I think I'll do a better job if I keep my mind firmly in one story at a time.

Edit.

And start the next one that's already waving 'hello' from a distance.

Technically I am over the word count as well, but I am shooting for done, thank you kindly, and 'done' should be around 75k. I re-set at 25k, so I have a reasonable chance of hitting what I am aiming for.

But first... I will take a day off from writing and... I don't know... make Christmas presents or something. :)

Um. I was in town today and passed a little indie called Fossil 2000. Um. I bought two crystals. So I suppose when I finish, I'll go through my Hustle DVDs and watch several of them in one go. All 4 series means there are 24. 24 hours of Hustle... Yummy.

If I make 50k by the end of the month I have promised myself a pair of completely impractical shoes. I never buy impractical shoes, no matter how much I want them, and so far it is working quite well as an incentive.

1. Keep going. I think my novel will need about 60,000 words.
2. Read.
3. Do everything I've neglected on planning my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party, coming up 19 days after NaNo ends.
4. Kiss my husband for doing all the dishes and sending me off to write-ins and the library.

I'll go on a craft making binge probably. I'd like to reward myself with new shiny beads/components, but if I wan to make stuff for people for Christmas it'll be good to order supplies sooner rather than later.

Oh, and I also have a list of novels I want to read as well. Not sure if I'll finish the draft or not first.

I think I will brave the movie theaters full of screaming teenage girls and moms reliving their first love (I am shamelessly a member of the latter) and catch a New Moon matinee.

Or maybe wait until it comes out on DVD like I did with Twilight and get a pedicure instead. Only 4K to go...

But definitely can't wait to edit :)

I am going to get rid of the guilt monkeys on my back by cleaning house when I hit my 50K - I'm aiming to do so by tomorrow.

I've neglected the fish tank, our bathroom and bedroom, going to rearrange the furniture in our dining and living room and move my computer back from our bedroom to the living room.

But as a reward for my 50K? I think I'm going to get me a brand new bowling ball. What? I'm in a league. Of my own. Bwahahahaha!

Well, I was thinking out celebrating with a couple beers whilst cranking some rock music on my iPod, but since I'm a little short on cash for the next week, I'll have to settle for a cup of Pumpkin Spice tea with a shot of egg nog in it in place of milk instead of the alcoholic livations.

Get back to planning my website I need to get more yoga students to my classes after Christmas.

Print off the story and get editing, and reading up on how I was supposed to do it in the first place as well as finishing the yoga book I was reading when I started this crazy thing.
Maybe have a bath or two, get my hair cut, get to someone else's yoga class for a change.
Go shopping without children!
Start posting flyers for next term's classes, oh there are so many fun things to do out there when you don't have to sit at your computer for all the free time you have to yourself!

And I want to find out more about those dirty fairy tales that Greenfingers is writing!
