The current cover makers are a little swamped with requests, so I thought I'd help out a little, as my word count is going surprisingly well. :)
I work mostly with photomanipulations. Here's an example of a recent cover I made:
http://redv20.deviantart.com/art/Eating-Vampires-Book-Cover-144046163

Just give the following details and I'll see what I can do!

What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel?

And anything else you might think is relevant.

Title: Behind These Turquoise Eyes

Images? ok so here's a pic of my first MMC - http://www.winghamchronicle.com.au/multimedia/images/full/575849.jpg OR http://www.winghamchronicle.com.au/multimedia/images/full/617405.jpg you could also just search james johnston, its helps if you put australian idol on the end of it.
my second MMC - http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/91031452.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=77BFB... OR http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_j5HxxKviOoQ/SroSv693H4I/AAAAAAAAJQ0/Ydud9YNoFk... OR again you could search Nathan Brake and put australian idol at the end of it.
for my FMC i was thinking somwhere along the lines emma watson or maybe just a brunette with blue/green eyes, i dunno you pick :D

What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? uh well its kind of a romance/action/comdey/dram type thing if that helps XD

And anything else you might think is relevant. please and thankyous!!

I think that's incredible.

Title: Poisoned Moonlight
Name: Roxy Raisey
Novel summary: Jenny's pulled into a world she wasn't aware existed, and she's expected to live with a narcissic, kleptomaniac vampire and a genetically modified 'angel' until they figure out how to get her back home unnoticed - which isn't easy in a post-apolalyptic steampunk world with everyone out for your blood. A strange mix of horror and humour. It tends to alternate xD
Images? http://labs.chemist2dio.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/wings_finished.gi... or another image of wings filling up a lot of space, and although I don't have a specific image, a wolf in the foreground?
What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? I'm looking for a 'dark' feel, with a black background and neon blue for contrast? I'm not sure how well it actually works, so i'm not fussed if it winds up vastly different to anything I've said =)

Thank you so much, but don't feel rushed.

What a generous offer. Hope you don't get swamped. If you get a chance, I'd love to see what you come up with for me.

Title: Oceans Die

Name: Stephen Christopher

Novel Summary: In a future earth, mankind has evolved to live underwater. The oceans are full, with two main races: Shallowers (like Dolphins with hands below fins) and Deepers (same but like whales). The Deepers have enslaved the Shallowers, and this story follows one Shallower on her quest for freedom for herself and ultimately her people.
(There's more detail on my nano author page, and several excerpts up on my blog at http://ransomedhome.com)

Images: banner I made:http://mbmfiles.com/Nov2009/091118-GQI6EZuGbj2H.gif I just don't have any time left between 4 kids, work, and this, but I don’t have real great graphics skills anyways.

Overall look/feel: This is a sci-fi book that attempts to be authentic, a very 'real' future earth (no super special abilities). So goals would be:
1. Strong underwater/in-ocean feel.
2. Pseudorealistic, not quite photorealistic
3. Dark, almost brooding. It's not a happy story but it is an adventure or questing story, with the MC taking a journey across the ocean and having many adventures. The conflict is between Deepers and Shallowers for much of the novel.
4. Humanity hasn't changed. At it's core the future is still full of pain and suffering, as well as extraordinary hope and heroes. All wrongs aren't righted, but there is the possibility for change. Blah, enough philosophical blarney, there's my ideas for a cover. :)

Wow. I love the example you gave. I'm throwing in my novel for consideration. I hope you're not too swamped already. I need a cover to inspire me to write again.

Title: Langvergeten

Name: aka-patience

Novel summary: Gay romance set in the Karoo in South Africa. Thomas falls in love with Morgan - his childhood friend. Afraid that his family and Morgan will discover he's gay he flees to Cape Town. Thomas avoids his family and Morgan for five years, until he's forced to return after his father has a stroke. He thinks he'll only be staying a week. To distract his family from looking at his reasons for avoiding home for so long he takes along his roommate Christine. Wacky hijinks ensue when his family plot to keep him there longer by stealing his car. Things are complicated even further when his family assumes he's engaged to Christine and it turns out that Morgan might not be as straight as Thomas thought. A comedy of errors mixed with some romance and a tinge of drama.

Images? Ummmm.... Well, I really like the feel of this picture http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1102/775029126_d62ad82ba7.jpg but I'm not so sure if you'd be allowed to use it since I found it on google. But I'm just linking it so you can have an idea of what I like. I bow down to your creative genius.

What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? Minimalistic? - kind of like the example you gave. I'm not that fond of busy covers. Since it's partly a comedy of errors it shouldn't be too dark, but otherwise I'm very open to your interpretation.

Oooh, if you're still doing covers, I would love one!

Here's my info:

Title: The Spook Handbook
Name: Ami Kim
Novel summary: A boy (11) who loves to scare/spook his little brother is so good at it he attracts the attention of real Spooks, who kidnap him to become one of them. He learns the tricks and techniques for scaring the human "rubes" from the Spook Handbook, all the while being pushed to perform nastier and nastier scares. Ultimately his Spook leader pushes him to perform the nastiest trick of all - and he must decide whether he's going to be a Spook or a human.
Images?
What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? Creepy, dark, perhaps with a small black book

Title: skitzoXcore

Name: robertXtidwell

Novel summary: A schizophrenic man tries to create music based on sacred texts that he discovers right before his (imaginary) robot girlfriend dies.

Images? Protag is modeled on Tricky http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=tricky&um=1&ie=UTF-8&s... his robot girlfriend looks human, shes a black punk rock chick but I don't have images of her.

What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? Chaotic and disorganized but sad rather than scary.

Hi! I would love it if you could make me a cover. I'm so hopeless at it, even though I have gimp, i'm new to it.
The title is Seven Deadly.
Author name: Cydney Lawson
The synopsis and an excerpt are both on my page.
The feel would hopefully more of a dark blues and shadowy look, if you can manage it. Gracias!

Well, this would be a godsend. I'm pretty much completely hopeless at anything that doesn't includes simply writing words. I would be EXTREMELY grateful if you made me one :)

Title: Buddy Borkowski: Trained Assassin
Name: Marcus Milich
Novel summary: Fred Meyer employee is kidnapped and turned into a government super-killer. Other details are on my page :D

What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? When I was writing this, I was almost envisioning a sort of regal font for the title, and then an almost childish stick figure drawing of one person shooting another. As my book is focused on humor and irony, I think that would fit really well.

If you have the time, i would greatly appreciate it :)

if u r still doing covers i would love for u to have a go at the second part of my work ive done the first one blood moon but i want something more detailed for this one

Title: dark blood
Name: dawn goddard
Novel summary: the vampire council are assembled again to rid the world of infected mutated vampires, both the immortals and humans are in great danger from these new breeds. losses on both sides bring them together to form a united front and change the life style that has worked for centuries. a war is brewing and the council of vampires and hunters are all that stand between the destruction of humanity.
Images? along the lines of van helsing and underworld. with maybe a new breed in the corner looks human but has bruised skin and red/purple eyes and fangs. two men and two women in shadows lined up ready to fight. with a red moon behind them.
What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? dark and scary

And anything else you might think is relevant.. i hope this is not too much for u but ur work is amazing

I feel bad for asking for another cover, since someone graciously gave me a really nice looking cover for my NaNo, but I find it is both really interesting and really inspiring to see covers for my book.

So if you're interested in making my cover, I would be forever happy :)

Title: Happy Hunting Grounds

Name: Bre J. Smith

Novel summary: Set in the middle of a civil war between the upper and lower class, it is set in the US, in the future. The mc is an eighteen year old girl. She is part of a group of five young people that are just trying to survive in the middle of an ugly battlezone. They spend a lot of the time in an abandoned subway tunnel. MC always wears an old army helmet that fell off of a dead soldier when her friend shot him. It has a brown handprint on it. The mc's sister is stolen and sold as a slave while they are staying with another group of subway people. They must find and rescue her again. All of the kids in the group have barcodes on their bodies that they have cut out (this is not a HUGE part of the book though). The group meets a woman who has found her way from overseas to the US (the country is totally cut off from the rest of the world and no one knows really what's going on in the united states). She is a photo journalist and she takes pictures of the group, although they do not know it until her story has been published and the war begin to cease, as the rest of the world sends in huge fire power. A new war begins, oddly enough.

Images? Nahh...I don't really have an idea of that.

What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? I just want something that conveys the feeling that it is mega war torn, but I don't want something really dark. I want light, because it is a book with an ok ending. :)

Thank you so much!!!

It didn't come out exactly as I wanted it, I think word count drained my creative ablitlities today...Also, I've been using too much blue. The next cover should be neon pink, I think.

And after the twins find themselves targeted by someones partiular hate, they will stop at nothing to leave the city forever

Title: Shelter Lodge
Name: Carison Rodriguez
Novel Summary: 8 people are visiting a ski lodge before it opens to the public as the winners of a lottery. Soon, however, they learn the lottery was rigged, and one of them is killing the other 7. When an artificial avalanche traps the group in the lodge with no assistance from the outside, their dream vacation becomes a fight for their lives.

I kind of want a dark feel to it, but one that also embodies the innocence of the mountain.

Title: The Lunacy Parade
Name: Natasha Ley
Novel summary: Gawd I'm bad at summaries. Well she lost her memory, and everyone hates her and is really scared of her because she used to torture people and kill them before drinking from them (she's a vampire). Her best friend is this guy that exists only in her head, and he encourages her to kill. She lives in the Lunacy Parade, it's kinda like the school in X-Men, that's the best way to describe it i guess, but every room there looks exactly the same so it's real easy to get lost. And her name's Helena, but she gets called Hell.
Images? I have no idea, sorry :S
What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? I'm not sure, i was thinking mostly really dark but with one colour as the title and in the images kinda thing... but i really don't mind, whatever works for you.
It's okay if you don't have time or don't want to do it, i know the month's nearly ended... i would do it myself but i have absolutely no talent in that area. Thanks for at least reading :)

Your work is beautiful! I'd love if you made a cover for me.

Title: Lucidity

Name: A. Ricigliano

Novel summary: 19-year-old Anberlin is an artist in Odin, New York, attending the Odin Art Institute where her hippie art professor is doing all he can to make sure her dark paintings don't get noticed by Jax Lawrence, an art hunter for the local art gallery. Her waking world worries aren't the least of her problems when she is drawn into a war in the Greek Land of Dreams, the Demos Oneiron, where inhabitants are drawing damned souls from their prisons and allowing them to merge into ghostly beings to haunt mortals like Anberlin who can pass through Morpheus's Gates. When one of them, Dorian Banning, catches Anberlin's trail, he gains access to her darkest secrets and uses them to try and manipulate her into following her mother's suicidal path. What's a girl to do when she can't escape reality or her dreams? As twisted a love story as they come.

Images: Yes, please! I'm not 100% sure if there's a copyright issue with using this one (http://www.yimsiam.com/cgi-bin/data/otoko/pic/0001041.jpg) but if there is, you can use this one (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/328992) instead. This one (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/749794) I really love because she looks like my MC, but because she looks a bit too happy she doesn't 100% fit the look I'm going for. If you can find a way to make her look more upset...or just darker, if that makes sense, that would be great. If not, there's always this one (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/702652) which is okay. I have a few backgrounds I like, (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1137904), (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/944780), (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/561058) and (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1119914), so you can pick one or trash them all and choose something else.

What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel: Dark and desperate, but dreamlike.

And anything else you might think is relevant: You are amazing for making covers for free.

Many thanks!

You don't have to use either of those if you don't want to, just suggestions. And if you want to find a different pic that looks similar to the one of my MC that's fine too. It's all up to you! Obviously if you need another image you can always use flames.

My back-of-the book summary would go something like this:
In a faded future world ruled brutally by the 23rd-century version of a tyrant, very few rebel groups last for long. The one group that is legendary among the oppressed masses is The Flames--a group whose members are never seen, never heard, their actions only known after they have vanished. After six years struggling for life on the streets, Jackie, a streetwise teenage thief, accidentally witnesses the group in action, and is suddenly swept into their underground society. The group is young, and small, but amazingly powerful under the leadership of Zira, a strong and secretive girl only a few years older than Jackie. As Jackie becomes a part of The Flames and begins to form a shaky friendship with Zira, she determines to find out the secret behind the older girl's mysterious knowledge of the way Donovan moves. But the truth isn't at all what Zira expects to find, and uncovering a secret this dangerous is going to cost her.

Thanks!!!

“Zira,” Corry said, grabbing my hand as I turned to leave. He paused with a word on his lips that I always saw but never heard.
“Be careful,” he said finally, and let me go.

Thank you much! If that's what you can do when you're drained... :) I'm quite happy with it, definitely captured a lot of the ideas I put down in my note. Impressive how you turned those thoughts into a concrete image that really hints at all those different points.

It's up on Facebook, and gives me a little extra juice to get through this last week.

Hey there! I really loved your example, and if you aren't too swamped, I'd really appreciate seeing what you could make of my story.

Title: Paradise Burning
Name: Wendi Williams
Novel summary: In profile
Images? Nothing specific, though the FMC has twin angel wing tattoos on her back. I'd thought about a woman's back with said tattoos, all in black and white... but I'm not talented enough to make this happen :oP
What would be the overall feel\look of the cover\novel? I'm thinking black, white, and grey... simple font (kind of the opposite of my banner, actually)

Thanks so much in advance!!!

I'd love a cover if you get around to it!

Title: Hidden Desires
Author: Katelyn Tillett

Synopsis: Vivian is a just like every other girl at her school, except she's dead. She's a vampire living out her life with everyone else until her sire comes to destroy her peace. Now she's involved in a battle for her race's supremacy with the inability to fight those who are most dangerous. She finds love and companionship among friends as she rises to the challenge of destroying the threat to her quiet existence. Can she harness the powers of her new skills and find a way to rise above the challenges placed before her or will she break under the pressure of saving her people from tyranny?

Excerpt: I looked around at the devastation that we had caused, the sadness that prevailed as the needs of many were set aside for the wants of the few. We were greatly outnumbered, but even before I knew that I knew I didn't want to fight anymore. I didn't want this sick respect that was only a twisted manifestation of fear. It was then that I realized everyone had hidden desires, things that even we didn't know we wanted. I wanted to be able to count on something, Samuel wanted someone to understand him, Malcolm wanted to be feared and worshiped, and Merin just wanted to be happy. We all let our desires get the best of us, morph us into something we didn't recognize. It was the first time I was happy I had no reflection. I didn't want to see what I had become. I grabbed Sam's hand and tugged gently. He could read my face better now than ever before. He could see the suffocating agony that I was beginning to feel and we ran, blending with the violet-tinged shadows on our way. We ran far and didn't stop until I couldn't see anymore, the darkness overtaking me. I would have collapsed if it was possible, but I couldn't, so I fell to the ground of my own will instead. I knew what I wanted now. I wanted to love someone, have someone love me. I wanted that feeling that I had been denied for so long. Samuel saw my desperation and he obliterated it as he kissed me. We could give into our desires, now; they were no longer hidden from ourselves.

My characters have the ability to control shadows and see them with purple outlines, sort of, I guess. XD It's pretty important to the story and I think it could help make a cool cover. If you need a description of my MCs so that you can incorporate them, let me know. You have totally free reign as far as design but I'm really into the whimsical and graphic ultra-modern styles.

I really have no idea what to do for a cover, which is why I've put off making one myself, and would love to see what you can come up with. I want it to feel kinda edgy, with a desperate sort of mood. I'm picturing something shadowy and mysterious and super cool. But all my ideas are very vague. XD

Thanks in advance if you feel up to assisting me!

And here is yours :) http://redv20.deviantart.com/art/Langvergeten-Book-Cover-144515737

The yells of joy have reached dangerous levels. OMG YAY! It's so amazing and so much more than I was expecting. I'm afraid I'll be walking around with a huge grin on my face the rest of the day. I love it. Thank you so very much. This was just the motivation I needed to get writing again. I'm having a very 'proud-writer' moment; I have a beautiful cover!

If you are still making covers I would love one; seeing all this beautiful graphic art is making me crave some for my novel. Your skill is far superior to mine. If you're slammed already will all the request I see here, let me know and I will come up with something.

Titile: Passing through the Jungle
Name: Sabrina Schlosser Schumann
Novel Summary: Family is not only what you are born into, whatever beast that may become, but what you build out of the world around you. For Samantha Picket it is the best and worst of both. Living in the ghetto with her abusive, con-man father as an outsider in school, in the community, she has to find a way to survive for herself, her best friend Gordon, and the crew that somehow forms around them.
Images: I don't really have any that I've been attaching to it but it takes place in the slums of south side Chicago if that helps.
Over all feel/style: The story is told through a series of vignettes (ok, so it's a long series). I don't spend a lot of time discussing what people or rooms look like, only what occurs to my main characters, what is actually relevant to the direct story I'm telling. Samantha and Gordon, her best friend are the main characters in the story, their relationship--from age 3 to 18--the main focus. It runs the gamut from only being childhood playmates (her frequently the leader who bullies him a bit but also the one who defends him from bullies throughout their lives) because they are the only two white kids to angsty best friends who stick through the deaths of her brother and mother, his parents, and his entry into the foster care system to sexual partners. The story itself is very urban and consists of characters of every color, creed, and creation, but not of every socio-economic background. There is likewise a lot of color in the book but a white girl and an outsider because of her father, Samantha--while she is almost always colorfully dressed against her will--sees things, feels things, in very few shades of gray and truly dislikes color and the world at large, everyone and everything--except Gordon.

I'm excited to see what you come up with but if you're swamped no worries. Thanks.
