I was working at the Independence Health and Wellness fair today (we were the booksellers for Michael Symon's new cookbook). The Independence High School cross country team was headed to states and were hanging in the lobby before boarding the bus. They all had their last names across their hoodies, but there was one girl who had it across the back of her sweatpants instead. Her last name (Storme) became the last name for my female protagonist.

I apologize now for my sporadic attendance here. Baby Geir is eating my time (and brain). Our schedule for the parties and write-ins for this year are as follows:

Kick-Off Party
10/24 -- Parma Heights Library, 2-4 pm

Thursdays, Panera Bread at I-480 and Tiedeman, 7-closing
Saturday Write-Ins
11/7 -- Fairview Parkm Library, 2-4 pm
11/14 -- Strongsville Library, 2-4 pm
11/21 -- Solon Library, 2-4 pm
11/28 -- Chagrin Falls Library, 2-4 pm

Thank Goodness It's Over Party (potluck)
12/5 -- North Royalton Library, 2-4 pm

If anyone would like to arrange for other write-ins around the area, feel free. Let me know and I'll post them on the regional calendar so that anyone could attend.

I will try to make all of the write-ins, but may have baby in tow.

The Kick-Off party is just a mixer to see your old Nano buddies and make new ones. I'll bring some snacks and drinks, but anyone else can bring some munchies too.

I'll be sending out a region wide email soon with more info.

I beat out 1200 of the worst words ever saved on a computer this morning. I wish I suffered from bulimia. If you stall out when constructing a scene, what do you do?

a) drink
b) keep plugging away
c) move on to next scene
d) both a and b
e) call the suicide hotline and ask to speak to Karen - again.

Or you can answer creatively... I finished the scene, but I hatehatehate it. Under normal conditions I only hate my writing one time, so three times is pretty severe. When I have reached this point in past attempts, I have traditionally punted. I'll be damned if I do that again. How do you get around this?

That's right. My first sentence is one word. I promise, the only one-word sentence besides "Yes" and "No" in the whole book. One-word sentences have no place in this competition.

We'll be meeting on Thursday at the Panera Bread at I-480 and Tiedeman at 7-ish. We're usually in the alcove near the fireplace. I'll try to have signs on the tables.

Saturday we're meeting at the Fairview Park Library, 21255 Lorain Rd. (just west of 210th St.) from 2-4. We'll be in the meeting room.

Hi there! Moved to Milwaukee from Cleveland 13 years ago. This is my first NaNoWriMo and I joined the Cleveland (in addition to the Mil-town) regional group to get some good juju from my original hometown. Was just there at the beginning of October, coming back during the holidays. Love seeing what's going on around town in terms of writing (in case I move back :o) Best wishes to everyone!

East Side Write-Ins

I'm an assistant manager over at Joseph-Beth Booksellers at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst (Beachwood area). All NaNo'ers are welcome at the store -- we have a full-service Bistro, lots of comfy couches, and work tables. If anyone offers to head up a Write In group, I can reserve our Book Club couch space for you. If you'd rather gather at tables, I can reserve a spot in the Bistro (you'll have to at least order drinks/coffee, though!). We have free wi-fi, and an ever-growing writer's reference area so please feel free to stop in. (My name is Megan -- I'd love to meet you!)
