Hey if anybody goes to PGHS and is doing this, you should come find me! (I'm usually in the Cisim room during lunch [known as the music hallway to the sophmores]) I'm trying to get the word out and I'm planning something really huge! I just thought I'd ask before November is over, but are we having a "Thank God It's Over" party in Provo this year? It would be nice to just unwind after this long noveling escapade. I guess the obvious time would be next Wednesday at Dragon's Keep (same time as all of our write-ins). Utoxin hasn't mentioned anything, so if anyone wants to go, just post and let him know that we want to do it!

Well, the first day of results have been tallied, and as expected by everyone except those silly people in SLC, Elsewhere has come out ahead. And that's /without/ a maxed wordcount for the day by any of our members.

Just the hardest time ever!

Okay, does this happen to everyone? I get down to my computer to write and try and try to work, but no words are coming. Then, as soon as I get them coming, someone in my house needs me to do something, go somewhere, take care of something, etc. I told them all that I was trying to do this as something I've been wanting to try since I heard about it and it just drives me insane. My husband asks me how I'm doing on it and I tell him that I would do so much better if I just got the time I needed to myself to actually do it. Plus, I like to listen to my characters tell me their story, and this story, my MC just doesn't want to talk about it. I do have another book that I have been working on since June that my MC has been yelling at me to finish her story, especially everytime I sit down to write this other one. I just want to sit in a corner and cry the rest of the month away because its driving me insane. I wish I could come to the write-in's but I just can't since I have early work and taking care of my 2 year old just doesn't coincide.

Well, I simply want to ask the question: Does anyone else feel like they're already failing at NaNo? I certainly do. As evidenced by my word count, I'm sorta .... in a slump. I write as much as I can, but I feel like I'm trying to do too much.

Anybody got any hints and tips to get over slumps in Cedar City?

Hey Guys/Gals,

The Boss gave the go ahead.

Starting on Monday, November 12th until Friday, November 16th you can stop by anytime between 2pm and 4pm and sit out on the patio.

I'll be there everyday with my notepad and pen!!! So, just show up those days. If it goes well next week, then we might be able to continue through the rest of the month. We shall see!!! See ya'll on Monday!!!

What is your favorite thing to feed your muse?

I'm usually all about a big mug of hot chocolate. And one of the true joys of parenting is being able to raid your kids' trick-or-treat bags. Seriously, those mini Snickers bars are just perfect rewards after getting in 1,000 words. At this rate, I'll have novel, a sugar-free kid, and a bigger butt.

Week two "pick me up" topic

Well, we're right in the middle of week two, and of course that's when the hardest time is, or so people say. I know for sure that the Elsewhere group has some of the best imaginative minds among all the participants of NaNoWriMo in the entire world, and I know everyone here can still pull through. For anyone who is having some problems and is not sure if they can really make it, here is a poem by Jill Wolf that really inspires me called "Don't Quit"

Don't quit when the tide is lowest,
For it's just about to turn;
Don't quit over doubts and questions,
For there's something you may learn.

Don't quit when the night is darkest,
For it's just a while 'til dawn;
Don't quit when you've run the farthest,
For the race is almost won.

Don't quit when the hill is steepest,

Write Ins - Rescheduled - Please Read!

After talking with Dragon's keep, they're fairly heavily booked on Tuesdays now. Darn Super Smash Brothers tournaments. :)

Anyway... they're still available on Wednesdays. I know this doesn't work for some of you, but this is when we have access to their facilities. If someone wants to find another location and run writeins on Tuesday as well, that's fine.

So: Wednesdays at Dragon's Keep, starting around 6:30, and going until they close, if people want to stay that late. I'll post an event for these.

I'm currently in Clearfield (except on most weekends, when I go visit my parents in the Salt Lake area). I also happen to be attending Clearfield Job Corps Center. I was wondering if there are any other NaNo participants living at Job Corps? If not, s'ok. If so, I think it would be a lot of fun to have little write-ins at the gym or the SAC sometime. If there's any other Job Corps peeps working on NaNo, please let me know.

I was just over in SLC's forum, and they're pretty cocky over there. They think they can beat us in the wordwar this year. It's time to start signing up people!
