Green Bay Get-Togethers

Hey, in my case,discipline sometimes needs a date and place other than "home". Anybody want to make a date to get together at the Greenhoue, or the SweetSpot to hangout and write? (I'm a first year Nano... is this what they mean by "write in"?)

Just in case anyone hasn't been following the Platteville Sound Off thread--

There is a Night of Writing Dangerously Write-In going on right now in the Writing Center, Brigham Hall, 3rd floor. The main doors will be unlocked until 6:00. After that, you'll have to call the number on the door to have someone let you in.

And when I say lake, I mean Lake Winnebago. Anyone here from as far south as Fond du Lac, as far north as Appleton, and as far east as Manitiwoc?

I am interested in starting a NaNoWriMo group in the Appleton/Fox River Valley area. Would you be interested in this? We could schedule regular meetings (once per week) at a local meeting place - Harmony Cafe, Copper Rock, Barnes & Noble, etc. What are your thoughts on this? I participated in NaNo twice before and ran out of steam 2 weeks in. We could support each other and hold each other accountable to "do this thing!".

I'm in Oshkosh, but my novel is set in the Dodgeville area. I've messed with the geography a bit, and put Lone Rock and Spring Green across the river into Iowa County. It's a mystery about a wind farm like the one in Montfort. I have some land near Dodgeville (just north of Edmund). So I thought I'd just say "hi."

Sunday, November 22nd is the Night of Writing Dangerously. For people in the Bay Area. Everyone get your exasperated sighs out of the way.

Out of your system yet? Good.

When I'm rich and can afford the $200 donation for each and every one of my noveling friends (don't take this as a promise, guys) as well as plane tickets to California, etc., I might be able to make it, but I'm about as broke as any old college student. I do, on the other hand, have some ideas on what we can do on the 22nd (or whatever day works for you and your novel machine buddies) to have our own little Night of Writing Dangerously.

Not much of a people person? No need to do anything but stay in and write. Have social anxiety and would rather have the moral support of an online person? Please IM me at Jailbreak Spoon (on AIM) or go to the AIM chatroom "Wiscelsewhere".

Do you have a group of local friends who are participating in this frankly insane challenge and there is a place in the vicinity that is open late? Perhaps with outlets for those not blessed with a good laptop battery life? Invade said place (perhaps calling beforehand if your group is more than perhaps five or six) and write for as long as you can, getting your wordcount to be insanely high. Remember, it is called the Night of Writing Dangerously for a reason!

Platteville people, I'll be posting the information to our thread shortly. If you live within an hour of Platteville and would like to join us for an in-person writeathon on the 22nd, please either PM me or reply to the information in the "UW-Platteville" thread!

As you can see by my low wordcount, I need to get ~~to watching Buffy~~ writing. I'll be sending an e-mail in a few days that will hopefully inspire you all to get to midpoint and beyond. :) In the meantime, good luck!

The big shindig in SF on this date is a "NIght of Writing Dangerously." I'd rather do it in the daytime, but I like the idea of one day in which to put on a real push toward completion. I'm not suggesting a ballroom or dinner & drinks. How about more humbly an Open House from 10 am to 4pm at Root Note? We could each decide on how much time we want to spend there, either camp out for six hours and drink way too much coffee or just drop in for a while? Is anyone else up for this?
