It's been a while since I've been in here, but it seems that others have been skulking about. I'd really like it if we could possibly arrange a meetup sometime, maybe a Denny's, or something along those lines.

I didn't participate in Script Frenzy (last month, was it?), so I really don't know how active everyone was in the Edmowrimo community. But I miss people, so I got to thinking about it. Meetup, anyone?

I propose a challenge between Victoria School and Salisbury School. =D Seeing as how it looks like we're the only two high schools on this board who are doing this/considering doing this, I thought that this would be a perfect way to show school spirit, and, naturally Vic accepts the challenge already.

Ah, the sweet freedom of December. Well, except for that part where we all go into a panic decorating and buying presents and catering family reunions and going on vacations and door-to-door caroling. Aside from that, though, it's a perfect time to kick back with one's console of choice. You've busted your ass all month. Whether you wrote 100 or 100,000 words, you deserve a celebration! This is always a kick-ass party, featuring awards, readings, games, tasty food and beverages, and karaoke! We're adding a new spin on the traditional TGIO this year, it will be a themed party (the top secret theme will be announced, stay tuned!). For now, we will tell you this: attire is fancy/formal dress (hippo optional).

Date: Saturday, December 1st

Time: Start time 4:30pm (As always, please do NOT arrive early!)
Program will start at 6:00
Note:all under-18 types will have to depart by 10:00pm, whether Wrimo or Novel-Adjacent. (Sorry dudes, it's the law!)
Over-18 types with valid photo ID will be able to stay until midnight

Location: We will be at the Boston Pizza at 10854 82 Avenue.
Whyte ave is easily accessible by bus, and by car (although parking can be a pain).
Do not go in the main restaurant entrance. There is a second door to the left of that labeled "BP Party Room". Go in that door. Go downstairs. Enjoy.

If you're driving, you can get personalized instructions from your house! Go herefor that.

Please make sure to make travel arrangements both to and from the party. A carpool thread will be started at a later date. (Finding you a ride home is not on the ML job description. Work this out in advance, please.)

Cost: Mr. Bear will be in attendance. We will also be asking for a suggested donation of $5 to cover the cost of renting this room. (It's pricey but worth it!) And again, if that's a hardship for you to pay, let us know ahead of time and we'll work something out! As every year, you will be purchasing your own food and drinks from the BPs menu (therefore no outside food or drink, thanks).

What to bring: Fancy dress-wear (think awards show but less skanky)
Karaoke-singing voices
Novel-adjacent persons are welcome! (Please RSVP for them as well so we have accurate numbers.)
A short excerpt of your novel, should you wish to read one. There will be a 2 minute time limit, which will be strongly enforced.

RSVP: in this thread. There is a limit to the number of people allowed in the room (fire code). Many people have not been bothering to RSVP and that makes it really difficult for us to plan. If you do not RSVP and show up, we can't guarantee that you'll be allowed in.

I just read an article about how five of the top ten bestselling novels in Japan right now were WRITTEN on the author's mobile phones.

Here is a quote (found in the comments from the author of the article):

I would seriously rather had write a novel than try to type it all in on one of those tiny keyboards!

Hello from Vancouver!

Just a quick drive-by to put up the super awesome new WORD WAR WIDGET! The supreme awesomeness of this? Is that we can have one widget for our two wars, and it'll show us the average word count!!!

For those of you who haven't heard, we are challenging Montreal and Calgary again this year. We are, as usual, going for average word count (whomever has the highest) and highest percentage of winners. Here's where it stands:

Clean Underwear Check-in

One week remaining, which means it's time for a Clean Underwear Challenge check-in!

How is your attempt at making a semi-polished novel going? I know I've spent the last two weeks getting my butt kicked by many-winged furies with bad grammar, little gods that copiously tag their dialog, and a long dreary description of walking through a never-ending grassland (which, from the reader's standpoint, did actually feel like an eternity.)

So, drop a line here if you are still working on the challenge, and let us all know how you're doing!

(I've decided on a page-based counting device to measure my own cleaning process, leaving me with 93 totally clean pages of my 214 total moderately-clean pages. Arg. This will be a week of literary laundry!)
