Shoutouts
Posted by: Dragonchilde on 09/26/2009
There is only one rule in the Shoutouts forum: (other than obviously, following other site guidelines)
1) Do not. I repeat, DO NOT, under any circumstances, call anyone a cheater.
It doesn't matter if you believe them or not. This is a self challenge, on your honor. If someone's lying, it doesn't hurt you or diminish your accomplishment in any way. :)
If you can't believe someone's word count... don't worry about it. :)
From our Codes of Conduct:
Do ignore cheaters and trolls
Every year, we get dozens of posts accusing others of cheating at NaNoWriMo. Please—don't worry about cheaters. NaNoWriMo is an honor-system challenge; no one is cheating anyone but themselves if they don't write the novel they said they wrote.
If you see a post that you suspect is a troll (i.e. someone posting something deliberately inflammatory just to get a rise out of people), please do not engage them. Just let it go, they'll move along without any feedback.

OOOH-RAH!!
Finished my novel on Sunday night, coming in at just over 50,000 words. :-D
Beat the pants off my time for last year, but I had great motivation. I owe an editor a synopsis for a 100,000 word novel I (hopefully) will be writing next. Time to get back to work!

I am TOO excited I just had to pop in quick to say so! I'm a county historian in NY. One of the sheriff's deputies does delivers the interdepartmental mail. I told him what I was doing. He said anything I needed to know, just type it up, and when he was making his rounds, he would ask who ever it was.
I had a bunch of questions about how my bodies would be after 15 years burried in pine coffins, by the edge of a creek. Oh my God, the deputy sent me the best email. He went and asked the head of forensics, and I got some good stuff now to play with. He also said the forensic guy said to call him, he had some other thoughts, depending on how the bodies were in the coffins. Isn't that way cool! They are so getting into this! Perfect timing too!

Oh yeah! I was among the first to receive my purple bar!
Imagine my surprise to see the same winner's page as I did when I won last year. But I'm sure it will be updated soon.
YAY!!!
