Brief Author Bio: I was born in Philadelphia, USA but I've spent the vast majority of my life in Belfast, Northern Ireland, so that's home to me, crap as it may be. I'm currently living in the area of Onam-Li in Namyangju-si, which is about an hour outside of Seoul, South Korea. I'm teaching English to kids aged 5-16 and I've been here for 6 months. This is my third attempt at NaNo, and I'm hoping to finally get my first win. |

Synopsis: Valediction
When Emma wakes up from a coma spanning twenty-one years, she finds herself in a very different world to the one she left behind. Britain has become a totalitarian patriarchy, and she is now part of a new social underclass, without rights or status.
But there are men and women who still wish to oppose the government, to return their country to the way it was. As Emma becomes more involved with them, she discovers that change can only come with great personal sacifice.
Excerpt: Valediction
My name is Emma Parker. I’m thirty-nine years old. But really, I have been alive for less than half that time. I’m not an adult – not yet. I’m not ready to die. I have plans. I had plans. I was supposed to finish school, go to university. Meet a girl, settle down. Have a life. Have a family. Have a career. Make memories. I didn’t set out to be a hero or a martyr and I’m the poster child for nothing. I was political, that’s true, but only in the way that all teenaged rebels with something to prove are. I didn’t plan any of this. I wanted to be no group’s leader.
But I am.
