Let Go
an excerpt

As a child I listened to my grandparents as they told me stories of what the United States was like. Strong, powerful, rich, and egotistical. We invaded countries with little regard to the consequences. Just before the fall, they watched as our troops invaded nearly 11 countries chasing after oil. We were a country in denial. While the Europeans were developing nuclear and wind plants, we were raging war over oil. A wasteful and dirty solution to our energy problems. Back home, citizens were angry at our over involvement in other countries. They elected president after president in hopes that something would change, but in the end, we still fell.

It’s been nearly 60 years since the Former United States reined supreme. It’s been 19 years since my mother disappeared in the morning, and only 2 years since my grandparents left this world. In less than a year, my own adventure will begin. An adventure that spans two countries, seven provinces and a war within myself.
