Dream Journals, Therapy, and Fantastic Coffee
an excerpt

Really though he knew deep inside that what Jake had said rang true, though he did not understand the why of it all . . . As Ruya was the same girl in his dreams and none other, as he had be the one in her dreams likewise. No it could be no other . . . And if he couldn’t be with her then maybe he’d be better off alone. These were the crazy thoughts that he had when he looked into her lovely gray green eyes, that turned bluish . . .aqua like when she cried like this. He wished she never had to cry that anymore,
ever again . . .unless they were tears of happiness. Maybe this would be considered “Rushing into things” by most people’s standards, but at the moment he thought it was a very worthwhile risk to be taking. For after all wasn’t love a gamble? Or rather, wasn’t it risking all of yourself for the sake of someone else? Leon was beginning to think that he could make that sacrifice for her if he had to . . .if it can down to the wire . . . He would take the fire for her sake, so she that wouldn’t have to die, to suffer, or to be in pain like she was right now.
Ruya watched him carefully and wondered what he was thinking at the moment . . . Was he thinking about how crazy this all sounded? Or was he thinking about something else?

She managed a small smile in his direction and looked into his eyes hoping to alleviate some of his worries . . . And she took a couple step closer to him, her head turned to the side ever so slightly.

He gulped slightly, and silently to himself and leaned in toward her and brushed her hair behind her ear . . .then brushing his slightly parted lips lightly and teasingly against hers. Ruya’s lips were soft and minty tasting against his own . . .so lovely to touch with his own lips, her kiss leaving a sweet taste in his mouth. Skin so warm and tender to the touch, he had forgotten what it felt like to be so close to someone like this, such intimacy was so long lost to him . . . To her as well, though he didn’t know this.

Her kiss was very passionate and rich with feeling. It was as if Ruya had stored up all her kisses, all her tenderness, and all her love for Leon alone and showered him in it all in this moment and place. Truly though she had never kissed anyone like this, nor had kissed at all, and this was her moment to show how deep her feeling ran for him, though he was someone she had met in her dreams . . . The way which they had met was strange, and yet it added to the story of this day in a way that would not happen for many, if any other couple’s love story. Maybe it was something meant only for the two of them to share with each other, and no one else.

Ruya’s hands ran through his hair lightly, and Leon melted inside from her gentle touch . . . He ran his fingers though her hair as well and caressed the back of her neck as they continued to kiss . . . This caused her to gasp slightly from his touch, as if it was something she had not expected but always wanted and longed for, just a lover’s touch . . .so feather light and loving across her skin. No one had ever touched her like this, and in her mind no one else could make her feel like this ever again . . .so giddy and calm all at the selfsame time and moment.

Their kisses were long, slow, delicious in taste, and rich with the passion they had locked away for the past few hours. Their lips melted into each other’s with warmth and tenderness, as well as raw desire. It caused Leon and Ruya to embrace each other tightly, so that they were intertwined in each other’s arms. Neither of them had experienced such an overwhelmingly intense and engulfing passionate desire to be with another person as they now felt for each other. And yet they also felt as if that other knew them so well they would never go out of their way to cause hurt.

It was like every romantic scene in movie or lovely thing described in the lyrics and notes of a song . . . It was movie magic and musical glorified romance at its best, though such things rarely if ever happen in real life . . . For them in that very place time stopped and as in their shared dreams they were together for an seeming eternity, time without an end . . .forever together, Ruya and Leon. This indeed was the stuff of dreams and fantasy wonderlands, though they were now in reality not in their dreamland any longer. Somehow what they had was magical in every respect though, as if they were fated to find one another. Emotions and passion playing out like the notes of an orchestra’s crescendo . . . And wrought with enough meaning to bring the hardest and most grizzled of human beings to at least the glistening of a tear, if not to tears altogether. Such a lovely moment between two young lovers, was something to behold and was worthy of song and story, and many a tale to be told.

Once they finally parted from each other both Ruya and Leon were breathless and lightheaded from all the heady love rush they had just experienced from one another.

They both smiled shyly and kissed briefly once more before they continued their journey to Ruya’s apartment building that had been set aside for their detour into making out.

Sooner than either of them would have liked they had reached the front door of Ruya’s apartment building and had to go their separate ways, for now at least, if not forever.

“Well, I guess this is goodbye for now,” said Leon with a small smile that caused his brown eyes to twinkle slightly.

“Yes, I suppose it is,” Ruya said ruefully, as she still was not sure she’d ever see him again.

“Could I see you again tomorrow?” Leon asked hopefully, one eyebrow raised, “Maybe after you visit with your friend?”

“I suppose we could do that yes,” she replied with a smile of her own, “But where did you want to meet me?”

“Hey, I know where you live . . . So why don’t I just stop by out front of your building here after you give me a ring to say when you’re ready?” he returned as he made a gesture toward her building to emphasize what he’d said about knowing where she lived.

“Ok, that sounds like a plan,” Ruya said, unable to keep a small laugh out of her voice, and she brushed her hair behind her ear shyly.

“Alright then, I will see you sometime tomorrow then!” Leon said with a grin and stole a quick kiss before he turned to head back to the studio where he had left his car.

“See you then Leon,” she called out to his retreating figure.

He turned back and smiled at her as he called back to her, “Take care of yourself till we meet again Ruya!”

At that he bowed to her in an exaggerated manner and then began jogging back in the direction which they had come from mere moments ago.

She watched him until he disappeared from sight, still barely able to believe that this evening had been real, as it had not felt real at all. She stood still for a moment and touched her hand to her face where Leon had kissed her before he jogged away. In her mind she savored every single one of the moments they had shared tonight, and even if tonight was her last at least it was a happy memory to have, to cherish. And cherish it she would, whether she lived one more moment or thousands more . . . For the first time she had allowed herself to be open with someone and it had paid off in so many ways, too many to count.

The impending doom she had felt that morning was not as large and foreboding as it had been when she left for work at Fantastic Coffee earlier that very same day. Even if death was around the corner Ruya no longer felt it had the power over her which it had been earlier that day . . .that is the fear of a sudden demise. It was as if her heart felt lighter than it had earlier that day.

Ruya turned toward her apartment building and went inside and onto the elevator up to her apartment, so heavy with sleep she was now all of the sudden. Upon arriving at her apartment door and entering she locked the door and threw down her purse and coat. Then she promptly took a shower, brushed her teeth quickly, and got ready for bedtime a bit earlier than the time she usually headed there.
