Synopsis: The Rough Basement
a collapse of consciousness
Excerpt: The Rough Basement
Something in the keyhole and I've lost the key cannot break the door down so I sit out here and wait. The gate goes down. I can see through the bars; ahead of us is a city I've never seen before, I am not dizzy. I catch my breath. It's a wild thing the catch is in my throat, once years before I felt this way. Just the sound of birds.
