There's No Easy Way to Eat Pie Filling / Soli Deo Gloria
an excerpt
Dameon was sitting back in front of the computer playing Tetris with one hand and eating spoonfuls of blueberry pie filling out of the half empty can with the other when he heard the front door close. Not that the fact that Cedric was back in any way interrupted his vital activities.
Cedric knocked politely on the door of the office before pushing the door open anyway. “Hello? Sorry I wasn’t here, puppy, I was out shopping, and I—what are you eating?”
Dameon licked the purplish goo off of the spoon and off of his lips, then quirked one corner of his mouth up in a sheepish smile. “Um. Pie filling. Why?”
Cedric shrugged and walked over to the chair, leaning on the back of it. “I was just wondering…you’re not pregnant, are you?”
“Not so far as I know. Though after that assraping you gave me last night, who knows? Maybe the fangirls were right.”
A loud pause echoed in the air. “…I’m not sure if I should be worried or not at how quickly you answered that.”
Dameon just grinned and slurped a goo coated blueberry off of the spoon.
“You’re weird, you know that?”
“I know. It’s good, though. You want some?”
“Er. No thanks.”
Dameon shrugged and spooned another glob into his mouth. “Suit yourself.” He clicked frantically as a T-shaped Tetris block began to fall where he did not intend it to fall. He dropped his spoon, smudging purple pie filling on the keyboard tray, but the block landed perfectly. A worthy sacrifice. He picked up the spoon and stuck it in the can, then wiped up the smudgy goo with his finger and sucked it off.
Cedric sighed and ruffled Dameon’s hair over the back of the seat. “You know, it might be easier and less messy if you’d do one thing at once.”
“Hey, there’s no easy way to eat pie filling, alright?”
He retired the can to the desk by the monitor and continued his game of Tetris. Cedric, upon realising that he was going to be ignored, returned shaking his head to the kitchen to retrieve his bags and put his new shoes and toys away.
