The Demon, the Stone, and the Secret Lab
an excerpt

The television still played a silly Disney show with the laugh track breaking up the dialogue every thirty seconds or so. The light hearted laughter generating vibes from the television were not reaching the occupants of the room at all. Their entire beings were focused on the sound of the approaching intruder. More footsteps. A few more and they would finally get to see the person who so rudely broke into the apartment.

The intruder made the final few paces to come into view of the original occupants of the apartment. What ever this guy might be, it certainly was not human. His skin was sparsely covered in dark green scale like things. It was hard to tell exactly what they were and no one was going to get closer to see what those things were exactly. Instead of normal clothing, or really any sort of garmet that someone would expect a person to be wearing in a small American town, this guy wore mettalic looking black armor that covered his torso and most of his arms and legs. If the trio was intimidated before, it was nothing compared to now. No question about it, this new scaly guy came here to fight.

In a way this was a relief to Melva. The guys could take care of this since she was not a fighter in any sense of the word. When she thought about that though, it was total load of crap. She should at least try to help out. She did not have the skills to go at the guy with her bare hands, especially with all that armor on. She probably could not make a dent. If the guys distracted Mr. Scaly though she might be able to get to the kitchen and grab a knife. Then she might be able to do some damage, that is if she could find a good place to stab that was not covered with armor already. She could worry about that though once she got the knife.
