So ,what did he care if they came in and saw him with a black eye? You've never seen a 42 year old man with a black-eye? Statistically, they are much more prone to have black eyes. Something to do with their circulation and he didn't remember the numbers but swore it was true.
It wasn't. You could always tell when Kenneth wasn't telling the truth, because he would swear he was telling the truth. And if they continued to doubt him, he would quote the statistics exactly like a research project, saying things like "42.3 percent more likely”. Which, by virute of being so precise and exact was, to his mind, even a greater lie than just saying "I swear it! It's the truth."
