Excerpt: Soul for Sale or Rent: A Theory of the World by Seth Keegan

My name is Seth Keegan and I've never left Ireland. I doubt I ever will. I probably won't ever leave this city, this street. I will never make it out of here alive. None of us ever do, not really. The gods aren't even immortal. Gods die and are born every day. But I am no god. When I die, my soul will not separate from me and live eternally. No one will know my name fifty, even twenty, years after I die. I'll never do anything worth remembering. I'm just a bartender in Dublin. I like booze and boys and weed and loud music. I believe in blood and loyalty and love and that God's a bastard. And if I die willing to relive my life for all eternity, I'll die happy. This is my story—my theory of the world.
