Synopsis: Lazy Eye
Synopsis: Lazy Eye
The continent of Luin, in the world of Gaelia, is a complex quilt of cultures founded on the knowledge of Tonality, the skill of singing the proper Harmonies to affect the fabric of the world. Only a few are born with the ability to hear and sing the notes perfectly, and fewer still can sing one of the Harmonies by themselves. The greatest center of Tonality is the city of Everlong, a city of culture and art which has always known peace... until now.
Master Brandon, the greatest and most knowledgeable Vocalist known, vanished under mysterious circumstances two years ago. He left behind his research in the care of his last student Keenan with orders not to let anyone know he had it.
Keenan was Master Brandon’s last student before his disappearance. As a rare Greater Vocalist, he enjoys high position in Everlong. What he has kept secret, however, is that his training in Tonality was never completed. The last thing Master Brandon told him before vanishing was to keep the secret and wait for the messenger.
Lazy Eye is a mystery to everyone. A recent arrival in Everlong, he has gained much repute as a Vocalist among the upper classes. He has also gained repute among the lower classes for his abilities as a prophet - although accurate prophecy was thought to be impossible. He visited Keenan shortly after his arrival in Everlong, bearing a message – “Trust and learn” – as well as the recognition phrase left for Keenan by Master Brandon. He has foreseen the destruction of Everlong and enlists Keenan to help him stop it.
Lady Sandrean is the Director of Performances in Everlong and a Greater Vocalist in her own right. As one of the most powerful people in Everlong, she has taken on the role of diplomat as she fences with the ambassador of the neighboring kingdom of Handalan to the south. Believing Lazy Eye to be an agent of the hostile kingdom, she refuses to act on his warnings. Her suspicions may prove the downfall of Everlong as Handalan’s armies begin to march...
And the real danger may not have even shown its face, for as Lazy Eye begins to decipher Brandon’s notes, his visions become progressively more detailed as if to confirm the ominous truth concealed in the pages.
