Brief Author Bio: After taking 2008 off to finish and print a previous NaNo endeavor, JS Lorentz returns in '09 and he doesn't need your stinking rules. He's been working all year on an epic nonfiction project encompassing all the most controversial issues of our time and certain to rock American culture to its core. But he hasn't been feeling it lately. Enter (or should I say re-enter?) NaNoWriMo. 50,000 words in 30 days? Hell yes, it's what a writer was born to do. But the big question is which rule(s) will he be breaking? Will this year's NaNo endeavor be a NAtional NOnfic, force-feeding 50K into a stagnating passion? Or will it be a NAtional NOt-new project, as he revitalizes his writing by taking a break and getting back to his roots... and pumping that 50K into the as-yet-incomplete novel that started it all, NaNo 2006's satiric erotic masterpiece, The Voluptuary? Stay tuned to find out just where this badass will sit this November... ETA: It'll be the nonfiction! More info on the novel page. |

Synopsis: The Legacy of the Overseer
I'm admittedly cheating... The Legacy of the Overseer is not a novel, it's a research-driven nonfic attempting to combine history, storytelling, and analysis to discuss race and class in the US from different perspectives of the past and present. It might be a tiny bit ambitious.
I've been working on it since the first of the year, but letting life get in the way the last few months. I think 50K words is just what the Legacy ordered!
Excerpt: The Legacy of the Overseer
I keep this one pretty close the the chest for now, but if you're curious let me know.
The photo I've posted as the cover art is just a sample of work by artist Kara Walker, whom I would like to design a custom book cover if and when I get this thing published!
