When I posted my add in the paper I was not expecting anyone to take me seriously. I was just at that point in life where I had to do something, anything, to escape where I was from, to get as far away as possible, maybe even become someone else. I didn’t want to be Nadine Chase anymore. I hated who she was, I hated how weak that name made me feel, so that newspaper add was my way of shouting “Hey Universe, I want a re-do.” And to my surprise the Universe answered me over trillions of miles of telephone wire through a man, or rather Alien, named Rafter.
