Synopsis:

This year, I'm writing a fanfic piece, just to get the creative juices flowing and to take a break from present WIP(women's fic). This is my first attempt at sci-fi, and I'm basing my characters and events on a favorite movie. I love experimenting with new genres and getting out of my comfort zone--in 2006, I completed a mystery!

Excerpt:

Talks about money and Earth bothered her, made her stomach feel twisty. Earth was a magical place, the way her mother spoke of it. A place with colors, like those in the prints lining the wall of the tiny classroom. Only brighter, Mommy would say. And there was an ocean with waves and fish, and grass, green and soft. Rebecca liked to study pictures of gardens. She imagined fairies living in the large, soft petals of roses or daffodils. Mommy wanted to take them to this fairyland, so they could feel soft, beach sand under their toes and sunshine on their cheeks. No more nasty, gray dust.
