Brief Author Bio: Hi all! I'm Muddles, a perky 18 year old who's in their fourth year of NaNoWriMo. I've only won it once, but I'm hoping to change that this year. I don't know how I'm going to manage--I'm a first year student at Miami University, majoring in Creative Writing and English Education. |

Synopsis: Don't Stand Back
Nakyu: it means orphan. And among the religion-driven shape shifters known as Hali Kra, if your parents abandoned you, why should anyone else care about you?
Nakyu was one of the lucky ones. When his mother abandoned him, rather than being left to die, someone took him in, raised him as their own son. He deals with death threats and assaults on a weekly basis, but life goes on.
Until Nakyu is approached by a strange man, who refuses to reveal his name or his face. This man speaks of a future where everyone is equal, no one can be called a mongrel or assaulted for it. Nakyu is convinced into joining this man's cause.
He is dragged into a hidden war between the monarchy, the clergy, and a mysterious group of eleven powerful individuals known as Shaksha. He stands at a crossroads in a world drowning in betrayal, deception, and hatred. As he struggles to stay sane and alive, he finds himself coming face to face with his desire for acceptance and just how close he really comes to it.
