Synopsis: Untitled Zombie YA Novel
For the last three NaNos, I have written a continuing post-apocalyptic series set in a small farming community, but wanted to do something different this year. (Hopefully I won't lose the fanbase that follow my characters with interest).
And so what came to mind? A perennial NaNo favorite choice: zombies! (A couple of friends have suggested that I place the zombies in the post-apocalyptic farming community, but I thought that might be over-kill, if you'll pardon the attempt at a pun.)
Anyway -- in this case, zombies are going to attack a small suburban neighborhood/development on halloween night, with two pre-teen boy protagonists who attempt to thwart them with the help of a crabby little old lady and possibly a recluse male author.
This is the first NaNo I have attempted without having a skeleton plot laid out in my head for direction, and I hope that it will be a winner -- even if the ladies book club at my church chooses not to make it one of their monthly selections in 2010.
Any suggestions for the "novel genre" setting I should select? I couldn't decide between Adventure, Horror/Thriller, or Young Adult. You'd think NaNo would have "Zombie/Pirate/Ninja" set up as a genre by now.
