Brief Author Bio:

Won twice in a row, failed last year, is the magic back this year?

Synopsis: Red As Mars

All the players are there, but you might have to squint a little to recognize them. From Manhattan to the Lunar Hilton to the water factories of Mars, from socialites to revolutionaries to producers, the fairy tale of Snow White is never going to be the same….

Excerpt: Red As Mars

Sonya kept a tight grip on the shovel, determined not to let her guard down in this onslaught of this outrageous attack of pure treacle. Was she really supposed to feel sorry from the woman who tried to kill her?

It occurred to her that maybe she should ask that out load and see what she got for an answer. “Am I really supposed to feel sorry for you after you tried to kill me?” she asked, indignant.

“I want you to understand I am not the wicked witch in this situation,” shrieked her step mother. “I’m the victim here!” She slapped her chest for emphasis, a bad actress howling on an empty stage to an audience of a disbelieving one.

“Listen to yourself!” snapped Sonya, “you rig my ship to crash in the Martian arctic, hoping I’ll either die in the crash or die of exposure, which I didn’t, because the people up here are actually decent!, and so, then that attempt failed, you attempt to asphyxiate and then poison me along with nearly all of my new friends, and stand here, gun in hand, and attempt to try and sound like the innocent one in all of this!”

Sonya waved the shovel threateningly to underline her point.

ALSO: Log of surprises my nano has thrown me so far:

Day 1: Main character broke both her legs
Day 2: Main character cries over hair cut (I already knew about the tattoos)
Day 3: Main character just got drunk on moonshine
Day 4: According to future propaganda: Red + Blue = Green!
Day 6: Argh! Already behind on word count!
Day 8: So behind, but the conference as sooo worth it! Also, the Weyland-Yutani Corp just showed up and I am now worried about my characters' health and safety!
Day 10: Green glow in the dark kittens!
Day 12: So one of my characters made a sex tape. This will not end well.
Day 13: I just hit 16,666 words on Friday the 13th - can you blame me for being worried? Also, my character is the middle of a drug trip. Groovy.
Day 18: Sooooo, Sonya survived the crash that killed her mom? Ouch. No wonder she has issues.
Day 19: Hurray for immigration debates and the words they inspire!
Day 21: Sleepy likes Bashful! How cute!!!
