Sifting Through Realms
an excerpt

She didn’t do anything, though, instead just smirking at him. “You can not escape, Damadar. There is no way out of our realm.”
“We’ll see about that,” he muttered, waving his wand through the air. A wall of steel landed between the combatants Katrina turned her attention to Corwyn, who was just beginning to wake up. Dar fled from the antechamber, casting protective spells every few steps behind him and locking every door he came to with the most powerful locking enchantment he could muster.
He skittered around a corner, almost falling. He pressed a hand to the floor, keeping his balance and speeding off down another direction. He was looking for a pool of water that he could use to make a portal with.
Katrina stepped out in front of him. He sent a wave of pure energy at her, and she turned to smoke, laughing in a maniacal fashion at him. “I told you,” her voice thundered in his ear. “You can not escape. I control this building. You’ll never escape me.”
Damadar slid on the floor as he passed through the door, seeing his steel wall looming in front of him. He turned, running back through the door, only to find himself back in the room.
