Synopsis: A Specific Ocean
Senior year of high school brings a host of questions for Emma. Where should she go to college? Should she postpone college for a while, now that the band is getting popular? And why is Eoghan trying to push her away? Will everything she's worked for be destroyed?
Excerpt: A Specific Ocean
On the other side of the doors, there was a crowd of people waiting. Some were drivers with signs for the businesspeople they were there to collect. Others were clearly excited family members waiting to see a loved one. I scanned the faces in the throng, looking for Eoghan. What if he had forgotten what time I was arriving? Would my cell phone work to call him? Was I going to have to figure out how to use an Irish pay phone? I didn’t have any coins!
Before I could fully begin to panic, I saw a familiar shock of messy black hair. My eyes met his gray ones, and his face broke out in the same wide smile that mine did. Dragging the suitcase behind me, I broke out into a trot as he pushed his way through the rest of the people. I threw my arms around him, completely forgetting the suitcase as I breathed in his warm scent. He hugged me tight, releasing me to kiss me hard before hugging me again.
“Welcome to Dublin, Emma. I missed you.”
“I missed you too.”
