he read for a while, but then decided to keep looking, he wanted to know what other surprises it held.
after roaming the fiction section for over an hour he moved to a different one. psychology or medicine, he wasn't sure since most of the books seemed a mixture of both.
he saw some clearly self-help books like 'learn to know yourself','your body can talk.learn to listen' and 'a parents guide to troubled teens' he chuckled at the last one. his parents had several of those, and others child-raising books. whoever told them reading themw was a good ideas was insane.
he was some books about memory exercises that he'd read. they were quite interesting. helpful, even, they had helped him realize how important and useful a good memory was and how to get the best of it. they also taught him several tricks he still used, especially when he had trouble remembering especific details.
he moved onto some sort of paranormal section, with books about UFOs,government conspiracies and learning to be a wizard. when he was younger he'd been interested in conspiracy theories, learning about JFK's death and the Illuminati's legend.
it was all very interesting, but he didn't believe a word of it. it made for a good read, though. conspiracy nuts were always fun.
he was lucky enough to have a natural good memory and remembered pretty much everything he read. he pulled some conspiracy book off the shelf to have a good laugh but he found himself faced with 'Human Potential: the next phase in human evolution' by Dr.Gregory Gaiman. he read the back cover. there was no photo of the author, it simply asked a question.
"The genetic code of human kind is changing, advancing at an incredibly rate. right now, the human body can do amazing things. and there's always rumours of truly incredible abilities. are any of them possible? do we really know what we're capable of?"
sounded interesting, so Bran took and went to find a seat.
finding an empty couch, he sat and started reading.
it included a foreword by the author, and a photo. the man looked young, possibly mid-thirties. he talked how he was impressed by his younger sister amazing abilities, how she'd taught herself to read at age 3 and to write at age 4. she was reading their parents complicated physics books at age 10. she was beyong genious.
she'd gone off to become a scientist and find cure for every disease possible.
he had been curious as to why some people were born like that. so smart, so gifted. what caused that? so he'd gone into genetics, hoping to find out and to see how to help others improve themselves.
