Destiny
an excerpt

“Evangeline!” He clutched the limp body, hopelessness and grief moving him to cry out. Her flesh, still warm from life, was beginning to pale and cool as quickly as her soul had fled its shell.

As far as he was concerned, his world had been ended as abruptly as her life. The fabric covering the wounds, moist with blood, dyed his hands and his own attire a startling crimson. Evangeline’s vacant stare served only as a terrible reminder of the truth. His life was over with the death of his lover.

Gingerly, he kissed her lifeless lips and laid her down. “My love, my sweet Evangeline... In our next life... I will find you,” he whispered, trembling. Eyes tightly closed as he tried to compose himself, his hand sought the cold metal of his gun in which had remained idle in its holster prior.
