It's been a long time since I've kept a journal. I think the last serious go was in eighth grade. The end of eighth grade, to be exact. My English teacher suggested it, saying that we were about to make a big change in our lives and journals were for documenting such things. As if high school is that different from junior high when you live in a small town. Still, I kept that thing for two months at the beginning of freshman year. And after all this time, I still remember that lesson, which was probably my teacher's goal in the first place, I guess.

And if that was a life changing time, than now definately is as well. A new life. A brand new start. after all the mess with David, it will be such a relief. I know it's a bit cliché to make a new start in New York City, but hey, clichés are what they are because they're at least partially accurate, right? Besides, it's practical. Sean will be there and he's already hooked me up with a place to stay and a possible job. Or at least, a job on a trial basis.

God, it will be so good to see him again. We were so close growing up, but we just drifted apart. It's been at least four years since I've seen him, Chris and Alex - Alex was just a baby last time I saw her, and she just turned five! Unbelievable.

Anyway, I fly out tomorrow, which has Mom all worried. She hates flying worse than I do, and any time I fly she's a basket case. It's only an hour from Raleigh, as opposed to a ten hour drive. Um, yeah. I'll fly, thanks. I'm almost all packed. Some of my stuff has been shipped already. That really made it final, sending my stuff away. My room looks so empty now. And I'll never admit this to Mom, but I'm scared. Scared as hell. I wish I had some idea of what things will be like, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.
