Synopsis: Jenna

Three different girls catalog the experiences of the central character, Emily, in her search for self by process of elimination.

Excerpt: Jenna

I was the potential self, the current self in a few years, the idealized self, the non-Christian self, the abusive older sister.

And I came out of Emily's head. I watched her.

But slowly, slowly she conquered me, and I died. More than once, so it's hard for her to say if I'll ever pop up again.

But here's what happened. Emily had made the fine mistake, turned out good for her in the end, though, of putting me just a few years ahead. An old teenager. Long curly hair. Tall. Ready to grab her and twist her and show her how the world really was after acne. But Emily kept on growing, and eventually, I shrunk. She had stepped into me, and had kept on growing. I was behind her.

I was her. She had stepped into me, turned into me.

And she saw her/my lack of confidence. She saw her/my fears and uncertainty. She saw how she/I didn't know what the future would hold.
