an excerpt
*Vworp Vworp* A blue police box materialized out of thin air in the middle of a classroom in Northeastern's Science Building, but the two people in the room hardly even noticed. They were too busy trying to shove a large green elephantine creature into a glowing green portal across the room.
A tall, slim dark-haired gentleman in a brown suit and gymshoes stepped out of the police box and looked around. He took in the sparse classroom, filled with a small handful of desks and not much else beyond the large portal and a long control panel with two chairs situated in front of it.
"Oof, push will you!"
"I am pushing! I think it's stuck! Why don't you blast it with a ghost ray?"
The visitor looked over toward the portal at the sound of the voices and raised an eyebrow. There was a short, slender girl with long white hair in a white outfit with a black skirt, boots and gloves who turned and leaned her back against the large green form that waas halfway through the portal opening. Next to her, leaning all his weight against the object, was a skinny young man in a black jumpsuit with white gloves and boots, with spiky white hair.
"Might I be of help?" the visitor asked, approaching the pair. The young woman looked up in surprise and almost slid to the floor.
"Um, yeah, we could use the help... where did you come from?" she asked.
"I'm the Doctor, and you could say I just dropped in," the stranger replied. He stepped between the pair and leaned his weight against the great green beast.
The young man stepped back and leaned in for an attack at a different angle. "Let's all push hard now, on three.... one... two... three!!" The trio pushed hard and the beast finally slipped through the portal, and the trio almost fell through with it. The Doctor gave the young woman a hand to help her stand and the young man jumped up and hit a switch on the nearby console, closing hardened steel doors over the opening.
"Thank you Doctor, I'm Lenora, and this is Danny," the young woman said, holding out her hand. The Doctor shook it, and then shook hands with Danny.
"Might I ask what that... object was?" the Doctor asked.
"Some sort of ghost beast... looked like a moose to me," Lenora said.
