Synopsis: To Witch Place Your Heart Lies

Kendra Humphries is in her high school English class reading Macbeth when she passes out on her desk. Kendra is unaware of what caused the spell and this peaks her curiosity. Each day as her class gets further into the play, Kendra's fainting spells increase. Doctors cannot figure out what is causing Kendra's medical issues.

Kendra reveals the Macbeth connection to her mother one day after class and the truth begins to emerge. Mrs. Humphries explains that there is more to Kendra's adoption than the teenage knows. She is a witch and is finally ready to learn about her past and what that means for her future.

As her knowledge increases, Kendra seeks out her birth parents and a community of like-minded people to help her learn more about what it means to be a witch.

Excerpt: To Witch Place Your Heart Lies

The chanting resumed, Fair is foul, and foul is fair: Hover through the fog and filthy air.

“You’ve got that right. I don’t see how any of this is fair. It seems downright foul to me, along with this wretched fog and filth as you describe it. Can I go back to class now please? I just want to be left alone.”

Fair is foul, and foul is fair: Hover through the fog and filthy air.
Where hast thou been, sister?

“In class, I told you that! I want to go back to my English class with Mrs. Philmore and all my stupid classmates. I want to go back to my high school. I want to get out of here.”

Upon the heath.

“Is that where I am now? I am in your sacred place? Does that mean you are going to sacrifice me or something? Are you going to kill me? What am I saying…I don’t even think I have gone anywhere else? I’m still sitting in my English class right? I’m just passed out while the rest of the students catch up on their bad accents and silly excuses for executing Shakespearean English.”

Upon the heath.

A loud ringing sound invaded the walls of this hazy space. Kendra recognized the shrill ringing as the school bell signalling the end of the school day. The sounds of cackling could also be heard getting further away. The fog parted. The young girl’s eyes fluttered open to reveal the bright man-made lights of room 212. Kendra recognized the familiar stares of her on looking classmates and she came to. Mrs. Philmore had a sadness in her eyes as she asked the repeating question about the wellness of her student.
