Dorian wiped himself down with a white towel he found hanging on the back of the door. He knew he’d left it there yesterday. He wrapped it around his waist and tucked it in. When he opened the door, Dorian instantly felt a rush of cool air, making the hair on his arms prickle. He rushed to his bedroom and collapsed upon his mattress, grabbing his cell phone off his desk in the process. He flipped it open and punched Logan’s number.
“Hey man,” Logan answered. He always said something like that when Dorian’s name showed up on the caller ID.
“Hi, what’re you up to?” Dorian jumped right in. He didn’t want to spend too long on the phone. If he was making the long trip to the city today, he wanted to get leaving soon. It was relatively sunny this morning with a soft snowfall, but this was Vermont and the weather could change instantly. Dorian knew if he didn’t take advantage of the weather while it was good, it would probably storm later.
“Uhhhhh…” There was a long pause while Logan thought. “The girls are coming up later, but that’s about it.”
“The girls?”
“Yeah.” Classic. Logan wasn’t known for giving the most descriptive answers. He seemed the type of person that expected you to read his mind to know what he was talking about.
“Who are the girls?” Dorian pressed. He thought the girls meant Carmen and her friends. Carmen had been crashing at Dorian’s apartment the last few weeks of school before it let out for the holidays.
“Uhhh…” Another long pause. “Jessica’s coming. And I think she was bringing that Addison girl. They talked about someone else, but I don’t remember her name.”
“I think I’m going to be heading in there today,” Dorian changed subject.
“Okay. When?”
“Soon. I think I’m going to get dressed, grab something to eat, and leave. Wanna go shopping with me?”
“I think I’m just going to hang around here today.” Also classic. Logan was also staying at Dorian’s city apartment while he was away. He was somewhat of a homebody and liked to hang around the house, doing whatever.
“Okay, I’ll stop by and see you. Who did you say was coming over? Jessica, a different girl, and Addison?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Just wondering. I’ll be by later.”
“See ya.”
Dorian hung up the phone and sighed. Was it true? Could it be? It felt almost like Addison was an old friend that he was going to get to catch up with. He had no idea if he’d be able to catch her. He just hoped that he could leave soon enough to catch her while she was still at the apartment. Maybe they could spend some time together, get to know each other better. Dorian could only hope.
