Synopsis: Reflections
A scientifically minded young woman finds her world vastly affected by the magical. A search to find answers doubles as an excuse to run away from a situation to which she's not very attached. If she doesn't open her mind to accepting answers, then it won't matter how far she goes in her live.
Excerpt: Reflections
"I’m sorry I was so rude at first.”
“It’s ok,” he said while arranging his jacket over the back of the chair. “I did interrupt your meditation.”
“I wasn’t meditating.”
While putting his drink in front of him, he looked up at me and quirked an eyebrow. I wasn’t sure if I was intrigued or annoyed the way the left corner of his mouth seemed to perpetually live half an inch above the opposite corner, but it did look damn good even if it rubbed me the wrong way. “Sure you weren’t.”
“I wasn’t. I don’t do that… not really. And not in public.” I was trying to center myself, but that (a) has nothing to do with meditation and (b) was very much impossible with mystery guy using my own eyes to pierce me.
“Then what were you doing?”
“Enjoying myself. But I guess that’s all over now.” I picked up one from my pile of books and tried to busy myself with flipping to an interesting page. I could share a table out of manners, but I didn’t have to share anything else, least of all insight into my mind.
