Synopsis: Kinship

Who is family: those who share your blood, or those who gave you a chance?

Catalina Aponte has spent her entire life, as long as she can remember, as a working member of her father's pirate crew operating around the Caribbean in the 1700s. In a seemingly routine scrape with a Navy brigantine, Catalina is captured by the British captain who recognizes her as his long-lost sister, taken from him when she was four by pirates after the brigands raided their ship of passage and killed the children's parents.
Edward Weston takes his sister--known to him as Eveline--back to port in Kingston to attempt to raise her to the life she was born and to make her forget the life she knows.
