That threw the twins over the edge. The boy jumped at him first, and with the practiced dexterity of an older brother, Eric raised his left hand to press off the oncoming flurry of slapping hands and probably some slobber as the right hand grabbed the remote and twisted his body to put it between the boy and the remote. The left leg came up to brace against the torso of the boy and kept him at bay. Eric knew the twins tactics well, so he was perfectly aware that the girl would soon be sneaking just beyond his peripheral vision, trying to outflank him and would then make a move for the remote, so he stuffed the remote under his butt and began to wave his free hand around just behind him and found purchase on the wrist of the girl, so he grabbed and pulled her in. He had learned that it was easier to restrain the girl and to block the boy, sometimes even blocking the boy with the body of the girl if he could get her arms and legs under control enough to move her where he wanted her without too much danger to any of them. Like most older brothers, Eric enjoyed rough housing with the his younger siblings because he could physically dominate them (probably the only people in his life he would ever have the opportunity to do that with as he wasn't the most physically intimidating specimen) but wasn't interested in actually hurting them and in fact took great care not to, despite what his mother thought of their little fights. He was able to push the boy back with his foot just long enough that he could use both hands to grab both of the girls wrists in his right hand and swing her around in front of him, between him and her twin brother while grabbing the remote again and holding it as far away as his left arm would stretch. Just as the girls violent shaking of her arms began to twist her wrists free from Eric's hand, mother came in and grabbed the remote from him as she began barking orders and gesturing her little prize fighters to neutral corners while trying to muster up an "I'm in charge" tone over her naturally shrill voice. The unison blurt of "he started it" from the twins came before any even asked and Eric was trying to look upset but was happy that his plan was coming together.
