Finding Myself
an excerpt
In the year 2010, something completely out of the ordinary occurred. No one knew how or why, but the creatures from another world had come to invade. With their elemental techniques, they had nearly wiped out all of Kyoto. However, they failed utterly and returned home.
Families were separated in this attack. Many were killed, even if not all. One family in particular got separated, and that is the one I wish to tell you about today. They were the Aldenel family, and they too were from another world.
Let's start at the beginning after the invasion. Miyu Aldenel, a girl from another world, found her way to the Tokyo Orphanage. She had been separated from her parents at her young age of six, and now that the invasion was over, she had nowhere to call her own.
The priest came out of the orphanage. Yes, at that time, it was indeed run by a priest. He pat her head and offered her a place to call home. She happily accepted.
She'd made friends quickly with her fellow orphans, who were mostly all orphaned the same way as she. However, two years later, a wealthy Russian family came to take Miyu under their wing.
At age twenty, Miyu got out of college with a doctorate in psychology. She was on a plane to Japan, to visit the orphanage. As the plane landed, she stood up and picked up her laptop bag and her coffee. She then got off.
Miyu didn't travel with much luggage. No, not at all. It just wasn't her way of doing things. Due to this fact, she didn't need to go to baggage claim. Her two carryon bags were all she needed.
As she walked briskly through the many walkways of the airport, trying to figure out which way was what and what was which way, her almost pink colored hair flew behind her, nearly whipping the people she passed as she turned. Emerald eyes scanned every inch of the airport, trying to find the exit. Oh, why had she gone to school in America, when she knew she was planning on visiting Japan anyway soon after?
Bam! She fell to the ground, landing on her buttox. Her pinkish bangs fell into her face as a small whine of pain escaped her mouth. She looked up, seeing a brown-haired man standing above her, holding out a hand to help her up. His smile was sincere and pure. His blue eyes looked at her intimidatingly. She hesitantly took his offer and got off the ground, using him for support.
“I'm quite sorry for that, miss. I'm a little lost, and I was so busy being in a panic, trying to find a map of the area, I didn't notice where I was going.”
