“This just isn’t our typical crime here.” Detective Monroe explained to the medical examiner.
“There is no typical crime scene or typical investigative approach,” the examiner replied as he walked around the living room. He stopped by the back wall and examined the splotches of blood on the wall behind the desk chair. “Brains,”
“I beg your pardon?” Detective Monroe queried.
The examiner scraped a gloved finger across the wall. “Often get bits of brain from a wound like this. Big gun, close up . . .”
Detective Monroe suppressed a shudder. He had often felt that his job was not exciting enough, but now - brains on the wall. No thank you, his life was just fine, thank you.
