Recoiling of Opposites
an excerpt

Janus is the dual sided god of doorways and entrances. All gateways are his including the gateway in-between life and death, light and darkness, daylight and twilight. Through him we can understand and believe two concepts that oppose each other with the same amount of faith. George Orwell described this as doublethink although in 1984 it is used for insidious purposes. Similarly we see in Robert Anton Wilson’s Prometheus Rising that the mind has two parts the thinker and the provider. Paraphrased Wilson describes the relationship between the two as whatever the thinker thinks the provider will find evidence for. And seeing that the thinker can think up anything the provider can produce any kind of evidence. This is clear with 1984 in which the general populace believe whatever they are told to be true even if it opposes logical thinking. An extension of this is when the thinker changes it’s thoughts and so the provider either gets new evidence to support this new thought or portrays the pervious evidence in a way to support the new thought.
We as members of the temple of Janus strive to have absolute knowledge and as shown in our motto In the recoiling of opposites does absolution arise, only in understand both sides can we understand the whole. We must strive to recoil all opposites so that absolution can be achieved in all areas, for all people and for all worlds.
