Valencia Channing fell in love with Superheroes when she first saw them on the TV. It was one of the old ones, who had since retired, saving a young girl from a robbery. The blonde infant had been taken hostage and was screaming for her mummy. All the news channels were there, a huge crowd, police scrambling around the area. Even sat on the settee watching the action unfold, she felt her heart pounding.
Then he turned up. He called himself Superior Man. Dressed in white and red. He stood tall and defiant as he subdued the criminals and rescue the girl all within a matter of minutes. Even the cameras could not keep up with the action. Valencia found herself cheering on the hero silently, sitting forward in her seat.
The way he stood next to the girl and her sobbing mother, comforting them while waving at the crowd and cameras. It was like fiction, but it was real, and that was what Valencia loved about it. That he and many others like him were living their lives behind the mask. Running into danger head first to save the ordinary person.
