After running for what felt like forever, I stopped, panting, and grabbed Ajax’s shoulder.
“Hey, how much farther?” I gasped.
“It’s just down here, I think.” Ajax pointed ahead and the hall seemed to loom on forever.
“We need a map,” I said. “Doesn’t think place have like an emergency schematic or something?”
Ajax shrugged. “Who cares? We should draw our own map!”
I smiled. I liked the way this guy thought. “Yeah!” I pulled out my computer from my pocket, powering it up in my hand. The words “Microsoft” spun across my palm and then the window popped up. I opened up Paint and pulled it open wide so that the image spread across my outstretched arms. I grabbed the holographic pen and wrote “Map of USS Good Faith” in the top left corner blue. I almost made it purple but I figured Ajax wouldn’t like that.
And with that we started drawing. It started off being the single hall we were on, which seemed to just keep going. We walked in a straight line for what seemed forever. We kept drawing a straight line, with little ticks for each room.
“Hey wait,” Ajax said, looking up from the map after some time of walking. “Look.” He pointed to the residence number.
“That’s my house!” I exclaimed. “How did we get back here? We’ve been walking in a straight line this whole time…”
“It must be a circle,” Ajax said. And with that he took the image and bent it so that our obnoxiously long straight line was now a perfect circle. “Much better.”
